This lock will come to you with a preset code of 0-0-0-0, but it's super-easy to change that to any 4-digit code you like.
1. Unlock the cable lock using the preset code. Then turn the collar counterclockwise and remove it from the pin.
2. Remove the 4 number rings from the lock body.
3. You'll see 4 black dots on the lock body that indicate where the combination numbers need to line up for the cable pin to be released.
4. In our review video, we chose 1-2-3-4 as our combination, so when we replaced the rings, we had to make sure that those numbers lined up on top of the black dots. You'll likely want to choose a different combination - just make sure the numbers you choose are in line with the dots as you replace the rings.
5. Replace the collar and pin to lock, then scramble the numbers for security.

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. And today, we're gonna take a look at this Trimax hitch receiver combination lock for two-inch hitches. This triple chrome plated steel lock is perfect for keeping any hitch accessory or ball mount locked securely to your two-inch hitch receiver. This flush style steel lock is used in place of your standard pin and clip to prevent theft of ball mount or hitch mounted accessory. So you can secure your bike rack, your cargo carrier, your hitch cover and more to your trailer hitch.
Now, the combination style lock is easy to set. It comes preset to 0001. And as you can see, that will easily pull out of the lock once you set the combination or turn those dials to the combination. And this is going to be easy to set your own combination and I kinda like to walk you through that. So first, of course, you're going to remove the pin from the lock and then what you would do next is you would turn this collar one digit counterclockwise.
So as you can see, I'm turning that, you're gonna turn that one digit counterclockwise and then you're going to pull that out. I'm gonna set that aside and then you're gonna go ahead and just slide all of the wheels off. And then as you can see, hopefully you can see that, all the black set marks should be set in a straight line with our guide point. And as you can see, they are. And then you can just choose whatever number you want to use, so I am gonna go ahead and keep it easy 'cause I can forget things very easily.
So I'm gonna set it to one and then two and then three and you guessed it, how about number four There we go. You wanna make sure that your new code is set on those black guide points there. So we have our combination set at 1234. We're gonna take the collar then and then I am going to replace it, turning it clockwise one digit to lock it into place. And then I'm gonna go ahead and insert the pin and then reset and just go ahead and knock this all to zero.
It's locked and then let's see if my new combination works. One, two, three, four. And there we go. So as you can see, it's very easy to set your own combination. And this heavy duty collar is theft deterrent and the steel construction with the triple plated chrome finish is corrosion resistant. Now, a protective cover is included. So let me go ahead and put this back in and then I'm going to reset this, put it all to zero. Again, we're locked into place. And this protective cover that comes included is going to keep the lock free from water and debris. And again, this is going to fit a two-inch trailer hitch receiver. The pin diameter is 5/8 of an inch. But if you're looking for one for an inch and a quarter hitch, I am including our item number to that Trimax hitch receiver combination lock for an inch and a quarter trailer hitches on your screen. Heavy-duty collar deters tampering.It works perfectly. I simply got tired of getting locked out of my car, then searching for a key. Simply put a split ring on a key and put it in the vacant hitch with the receiver through the ring. Presto; your key is secure.
I like this lock, but it could and should be better.
It's a bit light on security, but I still use them because these are the only hitch locks that I can set the combination on.
Things that are great are:
* I can set my own combination
Areas that need improvement are:
~ Someone with little strength could knock the lock off with a small hammer the way things are built right now
~ The weather-protection cover easily falls off. Put a retainer on the cover too
Second same lock purchased. Both work as described. They have not "frozen up" or failed to work properly. Somewhere along the line I lost the Rubber Cover. They can slip off so I even had a string attached to it but...oh well.
Purchased this to add to a second vehicle. I've used one of these well over over 10 years and it has been a solid piece.
You guys did an excellent job of getting me an item that is very difficult to find, thank you so much for being there.

It’s a good product the one and a half inch block worked fine due to inch lock works but it is so fat in diameter is a little difficult to use. I would prefer a 2 inch block that have the same diameter is the one and a half inch lock.
Delivered fast. Easy acessable. Works just fine. Am satisfied with the whole process.
