Will Brophy Hitch Extender with Step Work With Tongue Weight of 331 lbs

Question:

I have a GMC 2500 with a utility bed and lumber rack. I pull a small 14 ft. travel trailer that has a rack it bike carrier mounted up front but i cant use it because the back of the truck and it are too close when turning. The hitch weight of the trailer is 331 pounds. The trailer UVW is 2260. Will the 14 inch extender work? Will it be enough room?

The Brophy Hitch Extender with Step # ST12 will reduce your hitch (tongue) weight capacity - including the tongue weight - by 1/3 and has a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 lbs and tongue weight capacity of 350 lbs.

For example, if your 2007 GMC Sierra 2500 has the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75550, which normally has a 6,000 lb towing capacity and 600 lb tongue weight capacity, you would still be reduced to a maximum 3,500 lb towing capacity and 350 lb tongue weight.

Since you mentioned your hitch weight is 331 lbs, if that is the loaded capacity you would be able to use the Brophy Hitch Extender with Step # ST12.

It measures 16-1/2 inches from the center of the pin hole to the face of the receiver, and 14 inches from the center of the pin hole to the center of the pin hole, which you can use to determine if that will give you enough room. This does require a pin and clip as well, the Pin and Clip # PC3.
