Video Transcript for Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit - Universal - RP30035-309 Review

Today we're gonna take a look at the Reece Universal Base Rails and the Installation Kit with the spacers for a Toyota Tundra. Now this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2007 and newer Toyota Tundra trucks and on a custom fit part, I always like to recommend for you to go to our website, use our fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle and it'll show if this will work for your application. Now the base rails in this kit will provide the necessary attachment points for your fifth wheel trailer hitch to attach to. The spacer kit right here is gonna ensure the required half-inch spacing between the frame and the truck bed to prevent damage to the bed when you torque the bolts. These rails will work with fifth wheel hitches by Curt, DrawTite, Hidden Hitch, Reece, Valley, Huskey brands, and most standard fifth wheel hitches. They will not fit the Reece Elite Series or the Valley UBS Hitches. As you notice, the parts here, all the brackets and the rails are a sturdy steel construction with black powder coat finish to help resist corrosion. Now this kit will include the two base rails, the universal install brackets, the mounting hardware for all that, and then the spacer kit which consists of the two half-inch thick by one and a quarter inch wide spacers, three of these one and three-quarter inch long half-inch diameter grade five carriage bolts, three of the three-inch long, half inch diameter grade five carriage bolts, two of the beveled washers, two of the tube spacers, and a nice set of instructions on the spacer kit on how to install everything. That should do it for the review on the Reece Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit with the Spacers for a Toyota Tundra.

The Reese Universal rails were actually my second choice, because the rails made specifically for my Tundra would have been back-ordered for several weeks (due to availability). I had to install the hitch and pick up my 5th wheel right away and could not wait, so I went with the Reese rails. However, the Toyota service center that installed them said they were a good product and they did not have any difficulty installing them in the same time period that would have been required for the other Tundra specific rails. I am very pleased with this product and especially the helpful service that I got from etrailer to meet my timing demands.

Regular cab two door 4x4 5.7 Tundra pulling a 7500lb Grand design 28’ 5th wheel easily. Great hitch. Strong, durable, worth every penny. I paid a couple hundred to a body shop/ mechanic to install. They had no problem.

Ordering process was easy and received quickly. The installation instructions were easy to follow and understand. Installation went fairly quick at around 4.5 hrs.

I think the product was very good as a matter of fact it was better than anticipated. You may want to consider letting prospective buyers know the gage thickness of these rails Its like an injustice to them because the picture does not say a thousand words. Also it would be helpful if you had a giude that would prompt you as to how far apart to insta the second rail. Incidentally I had read a review and the gentleman stated that it took him 4 hrs and he didnt need the instructions. Dont believe him. The best part about ordering from you was the constant follow up. Thanks for every thing

The installation kit you will want for installing the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Square Tube Slider # RP30051 in the bed of your 2010 Toyota Tundra with a 6-1/2 foot bed would be the Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit # RP30035-309. This is a semi-custom install kit that will install in less time and less drilling than a universal kit like the Rail Kit # RP30439 that you referenced. I attached installation instructions for this product for you to check out. I also attached an...

  • When Not Towing on 2011 Toyota Tundra Can Fifth Wheel Hitch Be Removed and the Truck Bed Be Usable
The fifth wheel hitch is attached to base rails, like the Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit, part # RP30035-309, that are installed inside the truck bed on your 2011 Toyota Tundra. The base rails are installed to the truck bed by mounting brackets that are attached to the vehicles frame and located under the truck bed. I am including a link to the installation instructions on the Reese base rails. The fifth wheel hitch can be removed from the base rails by removing the hitch pins, but...

You have several options for 5th wheel installation kits for your 2013 Toyota Tundra to enable use of your ProSeries 15K 5th wheel hitch. The part you referenced, Reese Universal Base Rail Kit # RP30035-309, is one option. Universal kits like this are cost-effective but require more drilling and take more time to install than semi-custom or custom kits. This kit will work with all bed lengths. If you prefer reduced drilling and install time you may prefer custom install kit # RP50084-58...

  • Parts Needed to Tow a 5th Wheel Trailer with a 2011 Toyota Tundra with 5-1/2 Foot Bed
In order to tow a 5th wheel trailer with a 2011 Toyota Tundra, you will need a fixed 5th wheel hitch, an installation kit, and the trailer will need to be fitted with a Sidewinder. For a hitch you will need to look at the gross trailer weight and the pin weight of the trailer. The Reese 16K, # RP30047, is a very popular hitch. For a higher capacity, go to the 20K model, # RP30928. For an installation kit you can use kit # RP30035-309. This is a semi-custom kit that reduces the amount...

The Reese 5th Wheel trailer Hitch with a slider # RP30075 and install kit # RP30035-309 are considered compatible with the 6-1/2 bed option of the 2013 Toyota Tundra. Since this is a slider hitch, it is designed for use with short bed trucks. The slider function can move the hitch and king pin 11 inches closer to the tailgate, therefore allowing for more clearance during tight maneuvering. This particular hitch is rated for towing up to 16,000 pounds, and vertical load limit of up to...

I did a little research on the pin box that is on the Open Range Lite fifth wheel and it does look like you could tow one of their trailers with your 2007 Toyota Tundra with a short bed. For a hitch for your 2007 Toyota Tundra with a 5.5 ft bed I would recommend you get a Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30047 and Reese Rail Kit # RP30035-309. The start of the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit # RP30035-309 instructions are universal. Since the instructions for your 2018 Toyota Tundra say to use a 9/16" drill bit and this is only 1/32" larger than 17/32" I would just use the 9/16" drill bit. Either drill bit will work though since the bolts have a 1/2" diameter.

  • 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch and Install Kit for a 2013 Toyota Tundra with 5-1/2 Foot Bed
First, pay close attention to the language used in the owner's manual of your 2013 Toyota Tundra. If it says it is not recommended, that is a lot different than saying do not use a 5th wheel hitch or tow a 5th wheel trailer. The issue probably is the short bed and clearance issue. But a slider is not going to work because you need more clearance than a slider hitch can provide. On truck beds shorter than 6 feet long the best option is to use a stationary hitch and a Sidewinder replacement...

  • 5th Wheel Towing Capacity of 2007 Toyota Tundra CrewMax Cab
I suggest you check your owner's manual to confirm your Tundra's towing capacity since this can vary a lot based on engine, drive train bed length and whether any tow package upgrades have been installed. I think the 1475-lb figure you found may be a payload capacity, not a towing capacity. I reviewed an online edition of the owner's manual for the 2007 Toyota Tundra and on page 581 there is a Towing Capacity chart for the CrewMax cab version. You will need to know the model of your pin box as the Sidewinder you'll need will be a direct replacement. For example, Sidewinder # RP34FR is a replacement for these pin boxes: Fabex 663 and 665, Lippert 0719, 1621 and 1621HD, as well as M&M 663 and 665.
