Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for a 2013 Toyota Tundra Towing a 2014 Forest River Flagstaff
Question:
I am new to 5th wheeling - my 2014 Forest river flagstaff is currently being made - I take delivery in December and need to purchase my hitch - is this one suitable and do I need any other parts to complete the install ??

The Reese 5th Wheel trailer Hitch with a slider # RP30075 and install kit # RP30035-309 are considered compatible with the 6-1/2 bed option of the 2013 Toyota Tundra.
Since this is a slider hitch, it is designed for use with short bed trucks. The slider function can move the hitch and king pin 11 inches closer to the tailgate, therefore allowing for more clearance during tight maneuvering. This particular hitch is rated for towing up to 16,000 pounds, and vertical load limit of up to 4,000 pounds. The # RP30035-309, is the Base Rail install kit that is used to install this 5th wheel kit on your 2013 Toyota Tundra.
If your Tundra has an 8 foot bed I recommend the Reese # RP30047 with the same hardware kit # RP30035-309. This 5th wheel hitch has the same towing capacities, however it does not offer the sliding option.
Please note that if your truck bed is shorter than 6 feet a sidewinder is required to be used on your trailer. This is due to the limited clearance that is available for turning and maneuvering the trailer. I have included a helpful article that explains why sidewinders are crucial for use with trucks with bed lengths shorter than 6 feet. This article also provides recommendations for sidewinders depending on the measurement of your particular bed length.
To complete your 5th wheel towing kit you may also want to relocate the vehicle wiring connection point and this can be done using the Curt # C56000. This will plug directly into the back of your Tundras existing 7-way connection and then the connection point can be routed and installed in the bed of the truck for easier connection with your trailer.
Please check the towing weight limitations of your 2013 Toyota Tundra and make sure that it is capable of towing the weight of brand new Forest River 5th Wheel trailer. As with any towing system you do not want to exceed the weight of the lowest rated component within the system.
From my research it looks like everything would be in correct weight range, but there were several options of the Toyota Tundra, as well as the Forrest River Flagstaff available. Please check the specific make of each to ensure that the system is rated appropriately with the weight ratings of the 5th wheel hitch.
I have included links to the parts listed above, a couple of helpful articles, as well as videos of the products when available, for your reference.
