Video Transcript for Deka Primary Wire Heat Shrinkable Tubing Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at Deka's Shrinkable Tubing. These are available in either red or black and gauges between 2-8, 8-12, 10-14, or 14-18. You'll want to use heat shrink to cover up any exposed surfaces, especially on power circuits. We've got some here covering up the ends of our ring terminals where we've crimped it onto our battery wires. We also used it here where we connected two wires together using a non-insulated crimp. And you can see we've used it again here on a larger gauges.

You want to make sure that you use the appropriate size for the gauge wire you are working with. It's a shrinkable EDA tubing that is slightly larger than the gauge you're working with when you're using that appropriate size. You slide it over the wire before making your connection. Once you've made your connection you slide the shrink tubing back over the exposed wire and apply a heat source. I recommend using a heat gun. If you need a heat gun you can pick on up here at etrailer.com.

You can see here as the heat source is applied to it the tubing shrinks tightly over our exposed wiring keeping out any moisture and corrosion that may occur. And that completes our look at Deka's Shrinkable Tubing.

  • Is Heat Shrink Available for a Replacement 7-Way Molded Trailer Wire Connector?
I have a solution for you but the 7-Way Molded Trailer Wire Connector, 4' Long item # H20043 does not include heat shrink to cover the spliced area. You will need the Primary Wire Heat Shrinkable Tubing - 8 to 2 Gauge - Black - 6" Long - Qty 6 item # DW05402.

  • Heat Shrink Tube Recommendation for Use with Hopkins 7-Way # H20042

  • What Connectors To Use When Connecting A 3 Gauge Wire To A 8 To 10 Gauge Wire On A BCDC Charger
To connect your 8 or 10 gauge wire from the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger - Dual Input - DC to DC - 12V/24V - 40 Amp Item # 331-BCDC1240D to the 3 gauge wire I recommend using Deka Wire Crimp Connector - 4 Gauge - Qty 1 Item # DW05354. For adding your 8 or 10 gauge wire you want to strip it enough to fold it over before adding it to the crimp connector then add the plug-in connectors on the ends of the 3 gauge wire. I also recommend adding Primary Wire Heat Shrinkable Tubing -...

  • How to Wire my Fulton Powered Winch on my Trailer
For a straight connection your can use the Deka Wire Crimp Connector part # DW05354 and double over your 10 gauge wire to make the crimp hold for you. We often do this when joining two sizes together. If it will be connected outside the trailer use heat shrink like the Deka Primary Wire Heat Shrinkable Tubing part # DW05402. If by Quick Connect your mean the Bulldog Winch Quick-Connect Set w/Dust Cover part # BDW20133 type these would work for you.

  • Correct Ring Terminals For Connecting 6 Gauge Wire To Pollak 2-Pole Connector PK12801
We sure do! The ring terminal you will need to connect your 6 gauge wire to the 2-Pole Socket Connector # PK12801 is the Spectro Ring Terminal - 6 Gauge - 3/8" Ring ID - Copper - Zinc Plated - Qty 1 # SWC57016Z. Now to crimp this heavy duty ring terminal on you will need a heavy duty crimper. I recommend the Deka Hammer Crimper # DW05410 which will have no issues crimping a terminal this size. Lastly I recommend adding heat shrink # DW05402 to the terminal to protect it from the elements. I...

  • Is The Mighty Cord Replacement Hardwire RV Plug # A10-P50VP Weatherproof?
The Mighty Cord Replacement Hardwire RV Plug # A10-P50VP is not weather proof as moisture can still get inside the connector. While some may fill the inside of the connector with Dielectric Grease # 11755 to help prevent moisture from getting into the connector there is a better option. We have the Mighty Cord Replacement Pigtail # A10-50PMVP which does have the sealed connector head. This will make it much easier to seal the wiring at the splice using Heat Shrink # DW05402. As far as...

  • Does The Manager30 Replace Solar Panel Controller
Yes, the The Manager30 Battery Management System with Lithium Profile # RED88FR takes place of the solar controller for your current solar panel system. Solar panel controllers are used to help manage the power coming in from the panels and since The Manager30 does the same thing it actually can't be installed with a solar panel controller. The Manager30 is definitely an upgrade though as it pulls power from the solar panels and your vehicle start batter (via the alternator). It prioritizes...
