Installation

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies and some interior paneling to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the connector, run the red hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in your trunk.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Powered Tail Light Converter

A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

2015 Toyota Corolla

I bought this wiring so I could tow a small aluminum trailer behind my 2015 Toyota Corolla. Good news: etrailer.com had exactly what I needed, which I had trouble finding elsewhere, and the product was shipped immediately. The harness works fine, and tucks into the trunk when not in use. Bad news: The kit supposes to be easy to install in a few minutes which in my car was patently untrue. I had to take the car to the dealer, who spent hours installing the wiring; they had to remove and replace trim to run the wires to the battery. This is not an easy and seamless install. Works fine now that it's in place.

Finally a harness that fits! You guys are great. Installation was a breeze. The only thing I did differently was to put the power wire in a 1/4 plastic conduit. The 07 Camry had many drain plugs to allow easy access to the trunk area. These plugs were then sealed with a marine silicone.

The harness is still powering my trailer lights!

Local shop basically required I have "the wiring kit with the factory connectors" and was easily able to install this for me cleanly for $[XX] with my hitch. Worked great on my 2017 Mazda 3 2.5 touring

by:

Great and easy to install. Had no complications with the plugs that went into the tail lights. Ran the hot wire to the battery with the in line fuse and has worked great.

Mazda

Good quality and worked out pretty well. You'll need more zip ties but that's typical of kits. Only one complaint; the green wire to the passenger side comes up about 6" too short on a 2017 mazda 3 hatchback, to mount on the fender with the sticky back. I zip tied it to some other wiring

  • Recommended Towing Set Up for 2018 Mazda 3
We have towing components you can add to your 2018 Mazda 3 though I did take a look at the owner's manual and it stated that you should not tow a trailer with your vehicle so doing so would be at your own risk. If you do decide to tow you need to start with a trailer hitch, either the Draw-Tite # 24912 if your '18 Mazda 3 is a sedan or the Draw-Tite # 24914 if your Mazda is a hatchback; these are the best option because they will be the easiest to install. The ball mount that Draw-Tite...

  • Does Hopkins 4-Way Wiring for 2017 Toyota Corolla Supply Enough Power for Trailer Lights
The Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness # HM11141824 or your 2017 Toyota Corolla will be able to provide enough power for your trailer lights. The only exception is if your trailer has a crazy amount of lights on it. In that case you would need to disconnect some of those lights because no trailer connector is rated for an excessive amount of lights. To mount this connector near your hitch receiver I recommend using the Tow Ready # 18144 along with the Curt # C57202.

  • Why Does Trailer Wiring Connectors for 2009 Toyota Camry Not Match Taillight Connectors
You didn't mention whether your 2009 Toyota Camry is a Hybrid model or not, but the part # HM11141795 that you referenced is for the Hybrid models only. Which if yours was a non-Hybrid you'd want the part # HM11141824 which seems to be the issue you are experiencing since this kit uses 2-pin connectors like what you said you have and the # HM11141795 has 4 like what a Hybrid would require.

  • Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2015 Mazda 3 Hatchback without LED Tail Lights
Hopkins does list wiring harness # HM11141824 as a fit for the 2015 Mazda 3, hatchback or sedan, with or without LED tail lights. There is another option that is universal but does not require splicing. It is the ZCI harness # 119250KIT and it has connectors that clamp around the vehicle tail light wiring to sense the electricity flowing through. What makes this such a great option, besides the fact that you won't have to splice, is that you can use it on many vehicles. So if you changed...

  • Trailer Wiring Recommendation for 2018 Mazda 3
The two harnesses you mentioned are made by two different companies which have different fit lists for the 2018 Mazda 3. The part # 118405 has been confirmed as a fit for the Sedan models but not hatchback whereas the Hopkins kit part # HM11141824 fits all models of the 2018 Mazda 3. It's also the only custom fit option that does this so it would be your best option.

  • Can a Wiring Harness be Used With a 2008 Mazda Miata?
You are not missing any success stories regarding the Hopkins Wiring Harness # HM11141824 from customers with a Miata, it is likely because the vehicle is not made for towing. I took a look at the owner's manual for a 2008 Mazda MX-5 Miata, and the trailer towing section reads "Never tow a trailer with your Mazda MX-5." It may not seem like a particularly dangerous thing to haul a small cargo trailer, but the weight adds stress to your Miata that it was not designed to handle. This could...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch and Wiring for 2019 Toyota Corolla
The Curt Class I Trailer Hitch # C11265 and the Draw-Tite # 24913 for your 2019 Toyota Corolla are indeed extremely similar hitches but I recommend the Curt # C11265 for a couple of reasons. Both hitches will install at the same location on your Corolla but the Curt receiver will be just a bit more recessed behind the bumper allowing for a cleaner appearance. Unlike the Draw-Tite hitch, the Curt is also made right here in the USA so you can be certain of its quality and strength. I...

  • Towing Capacity and Trailer Hitch for 2019 Toyota Corolla
I looked up the owner's manual to your 2019 Toyota Corolla and it states that the vehicle is not designed to tow and that Toyota doesn't recommend towing with it. With such a new vehicle I recommend checking your own manual or with Toyota to see if they can provide a tow rating. If you find you can tow with the Corolla we do have hitches available. I recommend the Curt, part # C11265, because it is tucked under the bumper by about an extra 1/2 inch compared to the Draw-Tite. Since your...

  • Comparing Curt and Hopkins Trailer Wiring Harnesses for 2015 Mazda Miata MX-5
There are definitely pros and cons to the two trailer wiring options you have for your 2015 Mazda MX-5. The Hopkins part # HM11141824 costs a bit more, has a more involved install, BUT once installed is the better choice as it's powered converted box allows the trailer lighting to draw it's power straight from the vehicle battery and not the taillight circuits. This gives you some peace of mind. The Curt # 56082 costs less and install a bit easier but since it draws power from the vehicle...

  • Plug-In Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2016 Mazda 3 Sedan without LED Tail Lights
For a 2016 Mazda 3 Sedan without LED tail lights you can use # HM11141824 which plugs in line with the vehicle tail light wiring so you won't have to splice wires like you would with some of the other options. I cannot recommend using a wiring harness that the manufacturer states not to use so it would be best to replace the harness you have with # HM11141824.

  • What Hitch Fits a 2016 Mazda 3 Hatch i-Touring
When it comes to "Vehicle Style" in our fit guide, there are 4 options in the drop down menu for a 2016 Mazda 3 - "Hatchback - with LED Taillights", "Hatchback - without LED Taillights", "Sedan - with LED Taillights", and ""Sedan - without LED Taillights". Since you mentioned your Mazda was a Hatch i-Touring, that narrows things down to the pair of hatchback options. • Recommended Cargo Carrier for 2015 Mazda3 Hatchback
You can use a cargo carrier with your 2015 Mazda3 hatchback but it will need to be a fixed carrier and not a folding carrier. The reason for that is the only trailer hitch that fits your '15 Mazda3 is a Class I hitch that requires the stability that a fixed carrier offers as opposed to a folding carrier. For a hitch I recommend the Draw-Tite # 24914 which fits your hatchback and is a Class I hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver and 200 lb tongue weight capacity. What this means is the combined...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch For 2015 Mazda 3 Hatchback with LED Lights
The Curt Trailer Hitch, part # C11377 is designed to fit your 2015 Mazda 3 Hatchback. This is a Class l hitch and it has a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening. A note form Curt states that all non-trailer loads - bike racks, cargo carriers and so forth - should be supported with stabilizing straps like part # 180050. Failure to properly support these loads will void your hitch warranty from Curt. If you plan on doing some light towing with your vehicle I recommend a ball mount like part # C45521....

I have exactly what you will need to tow your small john boat to the lake with your 2018 Toyota Corolla. The Draw-Tite Sportframe is a Class I hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver tube opening. The Curt # C55567, Tekonsha # 118405 and the Hopkins # HM11141824 all serve the same function, and would all install in the same manner. The Hopkins and Curt models have a very slightly larger amp capacity for the stop/turn lamp signal at 3A per circuit versus the 2.1A per circuit offered by the Tekonsha model. All three harnesses are a fit for all models of the 2015 Mazda 3. Typically, I'd recommend the model with the highest capacity, but not in this case. We've found that the Tekonsha...
