Do you Recommend a Weld on or Bolt On Surge Brake Actuator

Question:

Hello, I am looking for a replacement brake actuator coupling for my boat trailer. I have a tandem axle trailer with drum brakes on only 1 axle. The brakes are now, but I am having issues with my actuator and the current one looks to be similar to the attached but is welded on. I am looking for a replacement actuator to replace it. I am not sure what would be best, a weld on only actuator or a bolt on one. Or us a bolt on one and also weld it. Please let me know what would be best. Thank you.

I prefer the bolt on actuators. The reason is that just like the position you're in to replace it you have to cut it off. With a bolt on you just take it off and put a new one on. The Dexter DX7.5L A-60 Brake Actuator part # DX27FR is rated for up to 7,500 lbs. so it will be more than strong enough to handle your boat when installed per the instructions.

Don't forget to bleed the brakes when you've completed your install to get the best possible performance.
