Recommended Model 60 Surge Brake Actuator For Trailer 1997 Dorsey Boat Trailer With Drum Brakes

Question:

My 1997 Dorsey boat trailer has the Atwood style actuator welded on, surge drum brakes. The master cylinder has gone out and I see parts are no longer available? I believe Ill need to have this cut out, have a 3x4inch tube welded on, and then I can go back with a bolt-on actuator. I like the A60 style. Do you have a recommendation? Can you recommend a lock-out style?

I would be happy to help!

The option I recommend is the Titan Zinc-Plated Brake Actuator - Drum - Multi-Fit Ball - Bolt On - 7,000 lbs # DX27FR which is a model 60 actuator like you were wanting and will bolt on to your 3" wide tongue.

This actuator has a 7000lb weight rating, and works with a 1-7/8", 2", and 50mm hitch ball so you will have plenty of options.

With this actuator you can use the electric reverse lockout solenoid # T4748800 which is the style I prefer as it is an install and forget about option. You ground one of the wires to the tongue of the trailer, and connect the other wire to your 5/6/7 way connector to be powered by the reverse lights of your tow vehicle.

I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
