PVC Construction

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is a sturdy material that is great for use on marine trailers. A PVC roller is more durable than a rubber roller, but it's also soft enough to absorb road shock when your boat's in tow. And PVC is corrosion resistant, even in saltwater.

PVC is also non-marring, so it won't damage or discolor your boat upon contact. Rubber rollers can leave marks on your boat's hull as you load and unload. With PVC, on the other hand, you won't need to worry about any scuffs or smears on your boat.

I bought the self centering roller because I put a Drotto latch on my trailer and was having trouble lining up on it because there was no front roller. The self centering roller fixed the problem! I am very happy with it! Thanks!

by:

Excellent customer service along with quick delivery, I ordered the self centering boat keel rollers and they came right away, the brackets for them are beefy but will need a little modification to fit my trailer which is not their fault in any way, etrailer is always my first stop and so far they've always had what I need.

by:

Purchase and installation went smoothly. This self centering roller makes loading my 15' boat with 25 hp motor much easier, especially by myself in wind, waves, darkness etc. I can bring the boat in crooked and it will center it right up. Very happy with it.

My hubby hasn’t installed this on his trailer yet, but he said it’s exactly what he was looking for and thinks it will fix the issue the boat has when loading up.

Spiraled roller works great, boat is aligned perfectly every time. Just be sure you don' t put the trailer in too deep.

  • On Trailer with 4 Keel Rollers How Many Self Centering Rollers are Needed
With just a pair of the CE Smith Keel Roller for Boat Trailers # CE29505 you'd be able to center the boat pretty easily on your trailer. You wouldn't need to convert all 4.

In order to install the CE Smith Keel Roller for Boat Trailers part # CE29505 on a trailer you will first need the Roller Shaft with Pal Nuts for Boat Trailer Rollers part # CE10727A. Then, all you need is a set of mounting brackets such as the CE Smith Universal-Fit Split Panel Brackets part # CE10500G and u-bolts. The correct u-bolts will come down to frame size. I have linked our selection for you. The roller will install in the center of the trailer on the horizontal crossmember.

  • Should The Boat Be Resting On Front Keel Roller When Loaded On Trailer?
This will depend on the exact boat loaded on the trailer but seeing the Keel Roller # CE29505 mounted where it is only makes it understandable the boat will rest on the roller when loaded. If your boat does not touch the roller please send me a picture of your boat when loaded, so I can tell if there is anything that can be adjusted.

  • How Many CE Smith Keel Roller for Boat Trailer Should be Used on Caulkins Trailer
Usually you only use one CE Smith Keel Roller for Boat Trailers # CE29505 at the front of the trailer to guide the front to the center of the trailer whereas the bunks do the bulk of the support and guiding of the boat as it's put on the trailer. If you wanted to use more than one you certainly could but maybe just two on the front two crossmembers.

The CE Smith Keel Roller for Boat Trailers - Self Centering # CE29505 is a replacement roller for a keel roller assembly. This self-centering roller fits a 12" wide bracket with a 5/8" shaft. In order to use this on your boat trailer you would need to install a keel roller. You are correct in thinking it is not a good idea to attach anything to the trailer axle. I may have a solution for you, but it doesn't look like your trailer has any bracket in place in order to use the CE Smith Self Centering Keel Roller for Boat Trailers part # CE29505 on your boat trailer. For that reason you would first need to have a roller bracket like the CE Smith Panel Bracket for 12" Boat Trailer Rollers part # CE10305G welded to the frame or attached with U-bolts to match your trailer frame size. • Should Keel Rollers Touch the Bottom of the Boat
Thanks for the photo. It does indeed look like you need to move your keel rollers up towards the bottom of the boat until they are touching but not supporting the full weight. Therefore, marking the bracket when the rollers are flush to the bottom and then moving them up to this point will be a great idea.
