BoatBuckle's second-generation bow tie-down strap bolts to the frame of your trailer and simplifies the securing and unloading of your boat. It is designed to keep constant tension on the strap and requires minimal ratcheting to secure your load. Instead of always having to find and store a tie-down strap that hooks to the tie-down anchors on the front of your boat, you will find that BoatBuckle's bow strap is always right where you need it. Just pull up on the hook and strap, attach the hook to the bow, and then operate the ratchet several times. No more dealing with extra webbing or looking for the tie-down strap. And when unloading, simply push the release button on the ratchet, free the hook from the bow, and let the strap retract back down into the ratchet.

Installation

This strap comes with the mounting hardware that you'll need to install it. It is recommended that you use anti-seize (LT37616 - sold separately) to ensure that the nut is properly tightened down over the bolt. You can mount the ratchet with the included bolt directly to the trailer frame or crossmember. If you need to angle the ratchet strap or move it a little farther off the frame, a universal mounting kit (IMF14254 - sold separately) is available.

Note: A bow tie-down should always be used along with a winch strap and a set of transom or gunwale tie-downs. All straps and cables should be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). To determine the maximum load, or break strength, of the strap, simply multiply the WLL by 3. The WLL is always one-third (1/3) of the maximum load.

The Boat Buckle was ok but the bolt that came with it broke off. It threaded on about a half inch and stopped. I tried tightening but the nut broke off .Also i started the nut by hand so it was not cross threaded.

Excellent product! Very easy to use and install. This boatbuckle will make my boat more secure and take the strain off my new winch!

by:

Frankly! It saved a man's life.

I was having trouble with my boat engine and took it to a local boat repair shop. The boat was taken out by someone for a test ride.

They unhooked the bow line hook at the ramp and the starboard side G2 BoatBuckle tie down. They then pressed the release for the port side, suddenly close to 3800 pounds of boat began to slide quickly off the trailer with them behind it. The boat abruptly slammed to a stop, the BoatBuckle tie down held! There was no time and nowhere to go. Thanks to your Well Built - G2 Retractable BoatBuckle this man's life was saved.

Thank You!

Product delivery went well making this purchase the right choice. The retractable tie-down strap is well made, easy to use and easy to install. I have two on the stern of my boat trailer that I like much so went with the bow tie-down. I travel long distances with my boat and I want to make sure the bow is secured to the trailer so there is no bouncing. A bow winch strap does not always do the job. Play it safe and get a bow tie-down.

Working great!

by:

Snugged up with the lever for perfect alignment, and tightened them up with a wrench. Boat and trailer is as snug as bug in a rug!

by:

Bolt snapped while installing. I also have the transom straps and the same thing happened so I ensured I was extra careful this time around but no luck. This appears to be a common issue since BB provides a stainless steel bolt that is considered "soft" vs. a Grade 5 or 8 bolt. Called customer service and was told to either call the manufacturer or head to the local hardware store to find another bolt.

Great ratcheting tie-down design. The only problem I have with it is the bolt and self locking nut that come with it. You can easily screw the nut on until all threads in the nut are engaged, and then it gets tight, very tight. After a few more rounds you are looking for a cheater bar, then a power tool. The bolts are longer than necessary, so you have a lot of thread to tighten the nut onto. On the Stainless Steel bolt and nut, the threads gall and stop any further tightening. I replaced all bolts and nuts with Stainless Steel bolts and nuts, with lock washers, from a local big box hardware store. Because of the issues with the nuts and bolts, this one hour job wound up taking 4-5 hours, and was frustrating to do. I suggest the manufacturer change to issuing lock washers and stop using the self locking design they use now. It is a very real problem in installation. And, no, the three bolts and nuts I assembled were NOT cross threaded. I was able to get a full nut on each bolt by hand without problem before the self locking design tightened up.

by:

As fare as the tie down it is fine, but the mounting bolts not so much first the bolts are 3 inches long ,(to long) i put the nut on by hand and put my wrenches on and started to tighten it and as soon as the locking thread got on the bolt thread it stopped and i could not turn it any more so i put my 1/2 dr air impact to it and it wouldn't move either way on or off ending up cutting off the bolt, poor quality bolt and nut !

Seems to be a well-made, easy-to-use product that will allow both me and the wife to quickly attach and release our boat to the trailer. Hopefully it will hold up to the Florida elements (salt water, rain, heat, etc.) - great price and super fast shipping from Etrailer, my "go-to" source for all items of this sort.

Bolt and nut that comes with it are not the same thread size, it's good enough to get going then seriously snags up and had to be sawed off and purchase seperate hardware... there are multiple reviewers with the exact same issue, I'd have expected etrailer to have looked into this already. Apart from the bolt issue, the unit works flawlessly.

The product is a Christmas gift, and your business was recommended to me. The product was originally on back order, but was delivered well before it was expected. Very prompt service, and I will order from this site again. http://www.etrailer.com/static/images/pics/I/M/IMF14393_tn.jpg this site again. Many thanks!

I was annoyed at hooking a ratchet strap on one side of the trailer, then feeding the strap over the back of the boat and hooking and ratcheting the boat down.
The gunwale RETRACTABLE straps are perfect!!!!! The gunwale straps are easy to install, retractable ( so when not in use store themselves ) . When I am ready to use them I just pull the straps up and hook the gunwale on each side and ratchet them down.
Great product, worth the investment!!!

by:

I ordered this for my new Tracker Boat and I’m extremely satisfied with my purchase. Loading and unloading my boat is quicker now and there’s no more dealing with the straps that you have to take off or put on.
These are super sturdy.

by:

The package says 2500 lbs per ratchet so need to correct the description.
I replaced the ones that were worn out with another brand last year and they just didn't work good, were heavy enough, but decided to change again. These should last a while. I've had many sets over the years

I own a drift boat and was looking for a much easier way to secure the boat to the trailer. After doing some research, I liked the information which was available on etrailer.com. I purchased two pairs of gunwale tie down straps and mounted them permanently(bolted through the frame)to my trailer.
I trailer my drift boat 3 days a week. It's a 6 mile round trip to the launch and back home. My pre-trip routine is very simple with these tie down straps. I ratchet each strap until it is tight and that's it. When I arrive at the boat launch, I release each strap with the simple push of a button on each strap. The gunwale hook and tie down strap retract smoothly back into the tie down mechanism just like a seat belt in a vehicle.
To secure the boat to the trailer, you simply pull up on each gunwale hook and attach it to the gunwale. You then tension the tie down strap by ratcheting the mechanism. It's as simple as that.
When I arrive back home, I park the trailer and release tension on each tie down while leaving the gunwale hooks attached. It's that easy.
My 5 star rating is based on frequent usage without a failure of any kind. This is a quality product, very tough and durable.

by:

These are a new design. I went back to trailer tie downs rather than the cheap knock offs from the auto parts store. I am over the moon happy with the improvements. So much so I bought another set for my other trailer. Awesome work. They came quick and well packaged happy all around.

One of the retractable straps works flawlessly, the other slips 1/2 of the time.

  • Can BoatBuckle Tie-Down Strap With 400 lb Working Load Limit be Used With 890 lb Jet Ski
The BoatBuckle Pro Series Kwik-Lok Bow Tie-Down Strap # IMF18741 has a working load limit (WLL) of 400 lbs and all straps and cables should be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL); shat this means is you need to have straps that have a WLL at or equal to your jet ski's 890 lbs. So you can use the Tie-Down Strap # IMF18741 if your winch strap had a WLL of 500 lbs. Otherwise you would need to use Strap # IMF14393 which has a WLL of 500 lbs (so your winch strap would need...
