Video Transcript for etrailer Ball Mounts - Fixed Ball Mount - EBMK2416 Review

Today, we're going to review part number EBMK2416. This is the etrailer.com ball mount kit for the Class IV 2-inch hitch receivers. This ball mount kit will include all the parts pictured here. It includes the ball mount which is the Draw-Tite part number 40331. It includes the pin and clip which is part number PC3. It includes the 2 hitch balls.

We have this 2-inch hitch ball which is the Curt A-90 and the 2-5/16 hitch ball which is the Tow Ready part number 63840. Then, we also include the etrailer.com ball mount bag, part number ETBMB. Do you want to go over each one of these parts here We'll start with the ball mount. The ball mount is a one-piece forged construction. It is a solid shank, as you can see right here, very heavy in weight. It has a nice double powder coat finish.

It does fit the 2-inch class IV hitch receivers. It is designed, if you see the hole here, to be used as a hitch ball of a 1-1/4 inch shank diameter which both of these would be. The measurement from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole would be 9-1/4 inches. Now, it does provide 4 inches of drop which you can see in that position right here as measured from the top of the ball platform to the top of the shank, so it'll give you 4 inches of drop. If you do flip it over and put it in the rise position, measure from the top of the platform to here will give you a maximum rise of 3 inches. Now, this ball mount is rated up to 16,000 pounds gross towing weight capacity and up to 2,400 pounds ton weight capacity.

The ball platform itself is 1 inch thick and 3 inches wide, so it does require a hitch ball shank that is at least 2-1/4 inches long, and again, both of these will fit that. If you'll notice on the very back of the shank it has an angled cut to it and that will help as far as loading in to the hitch receiver opening. Now, so far we have the hitch balls. We have the 2-inch size. This is a Curt hitch ball 2-inch size. The diameter is 2 inches, but the shank diameter is 1-1/4 inches.

The shank length is 2-5/8 inches. It is designed to fit a ball mount, which is a 1/2 inch to 1 inch thick, which this one would work fine. It does have a weight capacity of 10,000 pounds. The other hitch ball is the Tow Ready. This is a 2-5/16 diameter hitch ball. The shank diameter down here is 1-1/4 inches. The shank length is 2-3/4 inches. Again, this is designed to fit ball mounts from 3/8 inch to 1 inch thick, which this one would work fine. It has a capacity of 20,000 pounds and they do both come with their lock washer and the nut to install them with. Now, we also have the pin and clip, which is this part right here. Once you install this into your hitch receiver, you slide the pin and clip through the hitch opening to lock it in to your hitch receiver. Now, all these parts can be stored in the etrailer.com ball mount bag. This will conveniently store your ball mounts or also works great for any trailering equipment like tie down straps, bungee cords, things like that. It is made of a durable nylon construction, which will provide years of use. At the top here you can see it has a no-hassle zipper closure. There's also a handle for transporting it around, right up here. The bag dimensions on this is 16-1/4 inches long, 5-1/4 inches high, and about 4 inches wide. Basically, you could put everything in here to store or put the ball mount in there, put the pin and clip, and we'll be able to put both hitch balls in there. You'll be able to close it and you're ready to go. That should do it for the review on part number EBMK2416, the etrailer.com ball mount kit for the Class IV 2-inch hitch receivers. .

etrailer ball mount kit for Class IV - 2" trailer hitches

by:

This was a combination product that contains both trailer balls that I use. I am very pleased with the product and do not have to worry about it breaking under a heavy pull. The service was great including the delivery time frame. I am a completely satisfied customer and will do repeat business in the future! I got all of this for what most companies would charge for 1 ball and 1 hitch bar! Great Value!!!

This product still performs as good as the day that I first used it. How many products can you name that you can say this about? Well satisfied!

by:

This was what I needed as far as a high capacity (16k lb) ball mount with the right amount of drop, but the mount does not fit "snugly" in my receiver. There is a bit of play between the receiver and the mount when it is installed.

The mount and ball work great, I often tow some heavier loads with this. There is still a bit of play when it is in the receiver and it rattles around so I try to take it out when I am not towing.

by:

The trailer tongue and balls appear to be excellent products. The tongue is not like the cheap ones you see with any visible welds. I'm guessing this thing is milled from solid stock. However, my carry bag busted open during shipment and the pin was lost. (There was some damage to the box that my receiver hitch came in and I'm guessing the pin fell out one of the holes.) The sewing in the seams of the entire end of the bag came apart. However, I called customer service and waited only a short time on hold. The service representative answered my questions quickly and assured me that a replacement pin would ship that evening or the following day. My pin arrived in the mail soon thereafter, as promised. I am very impressed with customer service.

by:

This is a very nice little package. The ball mount is rugged forged steel. I currently only need the 2" ball but there is room on my shelf for the 2-5/16". Maybe someday I will need it. I haven't pulled the trailer yet but it is a good fit into the receiver. It will be in the bag behind the seat when not in use because I have banged my shins on those darned hitches many times. Giving an excellent rating, I am happy with it.

by:

Fits my Tundra like a glove and don't have to worry it the trailer is going to break the tow hitch not with this one.

by:

This was a well made product. The delivery was fast. Customer support was also excellent. I will definately buy my next trailer items from etrailer

Thanks, Joe

by:

Might be a bit overkill, This baby is HEAVY duty. But I'm glad I spent a few extra bucks so when I'm towing,I will have one less thing to worry about.

Haven’t used it yet, but looks good. I’m not sure what height offset I need, so this kit gives me several options, plus two ball sizes. Really good value.

I installed the draw tite hitch onto my brand new 2018 Subaru outback. I'm 68 years old, not as strong as I was, but proud to say I did the job all by myself in about 4 hours. Here are some tips you may find useful.
Watch the video-it’s pretty good.
I had difficulty getting the exhaust system down and worried about getting it up again from the moment I got it down...read on-help will follow.
I bought a stepup drill bit which worked great for drilling the hole in the chasis.
I clamped the hitch onto a floor jack, then rolled it and raised it into position.
Used metal shears to easily cut out the heat shield as per the video.
Your inclination will be the screw the fishing tool provided all the way up the carriage bolt. That won’t work; just screw it on to the tip of the bolt.
I couln’t get the exhaust hangars in place even after lubricating them with wd-40. I dropped the rubber hangars into undiluted liquid car wash soap which made them much more slippery than the wd-40. After that the rubber hangars slipped into place pretty easily-that’s my best tip.
Finding the electric connection plug for the wiring harness was almost as hard as installing the hitch. I was very happy with how the job came out. Good luck.

Ball mount kit arrived quickly (within a few days) upon placing order online. Parts were shipped loose in box and bottom flap on box was open when received. Fortunately, all the parts were still in box and in good condition. Kit includes ball mount hardware I need to pull trailers with different hitch heights.

by:

Nice heavy duty kit. Note that the mount is drilled for the larger 1 1/4" shank diameter. The balls match of course.

by:

Great product. Definitely easier with 2 people to lift up the hitch for final installation

by:

I received the package but the drop was not in the box.

by:

I ordered the Ball Mount Kit for 2" Hitches. My order was delivered fast, but it only came with one ball where two were specified. George and Paula got on it immediately and I received the missing ball in just 3 days. Nice recovery team! I would have given five stars for the product quality, service, and delivery had it been a complete order from the start, but that said, great service!

by:

Thank you etrailer for the quality products I received early last year. We needed a trailer hitch to install on our Subaru Forester for our move from Gig Harbor, WA to Spokane. We received the hitch hardware including the tow bar and electrical harness. The entire process took 4 hours. The installation process went off without a hitch (bun intended) using detailed videos I found online.
Thank you etrailer.

by:

This is the one thing I ordered with my hitch, wiring harness, etc. that I'm not sure about. Either the balls are slightly too small or the pins are too small for the hitch I have, so when I haul something, it makes an almost rattling noise. Super annoying! I also haven't needed both size drops. But if I ever do, I'm sure I'll be glad I got it.
