Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2002 Ford F250 with Cowboy Bumper

Question:

I have a 2002 Ford F250 7.3 Diesel Crew Cab 4x4. It has what I believe you define as a cowboy bumper. From bottom of frame to bottom of bumper it measures roughly 9 inches. I want a frame mounted trailer hitch rated at close to max capacity of my vehicle as possible. What is your suggestion?

Curt offers the Class V Trailer Hitch Receiver, # C15316, for your 2002 Ford F250 with a deep drop, aka cowboy, bumper. This hitch receiver is specially designed for heavy-duty towing with a tongue weight capacity of 2,400 pounds and a maximum gross trailer weight of 16,000 pounds. This hitch bolts directly to your truck's frame with no welding required.

This hitch will only fit models with a 16 inch spare tire.

We also offer the etrailer Ball Mount Kit, # EBMK2416, to use with the Curt hitch. This kit includes a ball mount with 3 inch rise or 4 inch drop, 2 inch and 2-5/16 inch hitch ball, pin and clip, and a handy etrailer.com carrying bag.
