Choosing Replacement Brakes, Bearings & Seals for Boat Trailer
Question:
I have a single axle Karavan boat trailer, 6 lug nuts. The bearings are shot and the axle grease got into the brakes. How do I figure out what kits to buy for new pads/shoes, bearings etc.?

We do offer individual replacement brake parts but in your case it may be not much more costly to completely replace the two brake assemblies. This will save you a lot of labor time and it also ensures that you do not soon again have to go into the brakes to replace a broken spring or other small part.
We offer both electric and hydraulic drum brakes and parts, shown on the linked page. Click on the type you need. You also need to know your axle weight rating to choose the correct capacity left- and right-hand brakes. Also note the brake flange mounting bolt pattern; some use 4-bolts and others use 5. Your axle should have a sticker that tells you its weight rating.
Your existing bearing and seals should have part number on them that will help you find replacements. Just search on those part numbers. The linked page displays all such items and the photo I included shows you the usual appearance of bearing and seal part numbers.
I also included an article concerning the types of bearing grease available.
