Video Transcript for Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect Switch Replacement Review

Hello neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer. And today we're taking a look at the Roadmaster Replacement Switch for your automatic battery disconnect. Now this is a pretty simple switch, and it's just one component of the automatic battery disconnect. But, if you had a faulty switch, that could mean the difference of flat towing properly or not. So here we have our old one mounted up.

And to swap a new one in, it's gonna be pretty simple. You're just gonna pop the panel out or wherever you have it mounted. And the way that this attaches is, just this nut that tightens down around the threaded portion of the button. And, you know, even if you lose just a small screw or whatever, that's gonna be hard to get those wires to cinch up. So, replacing the whole switch isn't a bad option.

Now, it doesn't matter which way the wires go, because it's really just an on or off. So, if you reverse 'em, no problem. You'll just push the button one more time and it's gonna work properly. And to get the wires in, pretty simple. You have just this little Phillips here.

And you're gonna back that out enough to get your wires in place. And then, you can simply pull those out. And to put the new one in, same thing. You're just gonna take that existing wiring, back that out. Put it in place and then tighten it down.

So, once you have that all wired up, all you have to do is test to make sure it's working. And I can hear our solenoid actuating. So, now we're ready to hit the road and get back to flat towing. And that was a look at the Roadmaster Replacement Switch, for your automatic battery disconnect..

  • Can I Mount The Replacement Switch For The Automatic Battery Disconnect In The Wheel Well
The Replacement Switch for Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect, part # RM57ZR, is not weatherproof. One of the installation requirements of the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch for Towed Vehicle w/ Supplemental Braking System, part # RM-766, is that it needs to be protected from direct road spray. In my opinion, the wheel well would provide too much spray and the switch and/or solenoid would get wet. I have included a product description link, a video demo, and...
