Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Roadmaster transmitter for the even brake systems with the serial number lower than 27,496. Now this is an ICX transmitter that'll work with the Roadmaster even brake supplemental breaking systems. This does include everything shown here on the table. The transmitter itself, the mounting pads for installing it and the installation hardware. Now this ICX transmitter will install inside your towed vehicle and it relays information about that vehicle's braking activity or a change in the system status to the even break receiver monitor that would be installed in your motor home.
Now the receiver monitor is not included with this part number. We do sell that separately on our website. It's part number RM-9410 and it is listed on this product page as a related product. This part is made in the USA and again the note I do wanna mention if your even break has a serial number that is under 27,496 then this is the correct part you need. If your serial number is higher than that number, then you'll need the transmitter part number RM77FR which is sold separately on our website.
But that should do it for the review on this Roadmaster transmitter for the even brake systems with serial number lower than 27,496.

I am getting false readings and alerts at monitor. Ex: brakes are applied, tow vehicle has come disconnected etc.. pull over to check and everything is fine. I unplugged monitor or it just goes off all the time. This happens on two different vehicles I tow which have separate transmitters.

The unit came with the wrong installation instructions. It came with the receiver instructions instead which is extremely frustrating!

I was preparing to leave on a month-long RV trip when my Even Brake required repair. I contacted Roadmaster, and troubleshooting revealed a bad transmitter. Roadmaster said it would be about two weeks to get a replacement, but suggested I might be able to get it more quickly from etrailer.com. I ordered one on line and promptly received it. Thanks to e-trailer we are on the road!

Works as advertised. Wires coming out of unit not well protected/anchored. I wonder why this can't be designed to be integrated into the Even Brake unit itself instead of having a separate device to install? Alternately, it could be designed to be powered by the Even Brake unit instead of separately: You already have to plug in a USB-type connection from the Even Brake. I wired mine up with a flat-4 trailer-type connector so I could install and remove it from my vehicle easily.

The product did not fix my problem as Roadmaster stated it would. I had to send the brake unit in for repair.
The unit worked well when synced with the repaired braked unit.

HI Bob - I have issues with my Even Brake where the unit says it cannot detect a brake switch, however when I test the switch it is OK. It is an intermittent problem. I pulled the green wire off the ICX transmitter and replaced the crimp end, then anchored the wiring so there is NO STRAIN on the wiring to the ICX transmitter and still have the issue, so I think it could be a bad ICX transmitter.How did you know your transmitter was bad?Thanks,Mike P

For Mike P. I tested for voltage to the transmitter. Voltage was present so unit should have detected.

well i can not test this till the 1 first week of aprill ,so i would think it ok hoppfully for the tranmiter ,iam in quebec and ordered thought my mother in law (snow bird comming back end of the mouth,

I reached out to Roadmaster about what you are experiencing. This could be happening because the vehicle that is being used at that time is sharing some device with the same frequency as the ICX transmitter in that vehicle and it would be best to try changing the channel to a different frequency used between the ICX transmitter and the RV monitoring device. I am sending you the instruction manual that can help via email.
