How Does the Handle Work on the Lippert Components Spare Tire Winch 159056

Question:

I like this spare tire winch, but am confused about the crane handle options. How do the handles work to raise/lower the winch with spare tire on it? Are they permanently mounted or removed after each use. Also, does it have a hex end to fit a socket or ? Thank you.

There are going to be two parts to the handle that you will need to operate the Lippert Components Spare Tire Winch part # LC159056. The first of which is the intermediate shaft or what Lippert calls a Crank Extension part # LC1315411. This will be installed directly on the winch and permanently mounted on the trailer. Basically, the end with the hole drilled in it will line up with the hole on the end of the output shaft on the winch and then secured with a cotter pin.

If you need the intermediate shaft to be a different length you can cut the end with a hole in it and then just redrill the hole when you have it to the size you need.

I have attached a photo to help explain the above.
