Silver powder coat finish resists corrosion.NOT HAPPY !! Demco Spare Tire Carrier arrived today. I did a LOT of research before ordering this from etrailer. Upon opening the box (which just had some crumpled paper thrown in on top) it appears I may have been sold one that someone returned (?). There are tool marks and dings that are scratched through the "powdercoat finish" in several areas (see photos) that couldn't have happened in shipping even though it was just loose in a box (no padding, no styrofoam, not even in a plastic bag). Someone also had started to peel off the UPC sticker that's on the carrier as well. I've ordered from eTrailer several times in the past with excellent overall results. I never leave reviews but this was an expensive tire carrier that appears to me to be a returned item which I'm left with "fixing" to prevent future surface rust and finish failure issues.
This was the only spare tire carrier I could find that would work with my Ridgeline fish house! There are interference limitations on the tongue due to the tongue jack and house lowering mechanism and this product worked perfectly!
Box was damaged in shipping but part was undamaged. I just wish it came with lug nuts. 1/2"x20 if your're wondering.
I wanted to store my spare tire and wheel in the nose of my enclosed trailer and did not want to attach it to the wall as my trailer is totally of aluminum construction. Normally I fabricate my ideas as typically cannot find something I like or is not made well enough as I am an engineer and fabricator. This one quality built item is of a great design with robust materials and quality welding and powder coating. Its design will accommodate just about any wheel and tire combo you have. The only thing I needed to do to mount it inside and go through the floor was to get longer carriage bolts to accommodate the additional thickness of the flooring. It not only looks great but also is as solid as a rock. Even though the universal mounting fit well, I decided to make a custom wheel mounting plate that fit my specific unit symmetrically and used fasteners with the same thread as my factory lug nuts. Enclosed a print if you would like to make one for yourself. It fits a 5 lug 4-1/2” bolt wheel.
I bought this spare tire carrier because in the Q&A section of this product, an etrailer employee stated in an answer to a customer's question (this carrier is designed to fit on 4" x 4" trailer tongues, so it would also fit on a 4" square bumper). Although technically correct, this carrier will only fit a 4" square RV bumper sideways, because the bolt holes front to back are less than 4". So, this mount will not work for an RV bumper. Instead of returning it, and most likely having to pay for the return shipping, I took the spare tire carrier off my flatbed trailer and installed it on my travel trailer and installed this carrier on my flatbed trailer. Had I known the bolt holes front to back are less than 4" I could have saved a lot of money by buying a spare tire carrier like the one that was on my flatbed trailer.
Having said all that, this spare tire carrier is very nice, just didn't work for what I wanted it for.
I love the sturdiness of this item, however the description clearly states that it fits 4"X4" and it does not. The clearance between the mounting bolts is only 3.5" and this did not work for the use I bought it for. Because of the strong heavy duty manufacture of unit I am keeping it and I hired a welder to make it work for my application.

I measured the bolts and youd have to install the tire stand head on and not sideways. Ill see if that is information we can add to our site. Thanks for letting us know!
I ordered this for my box trailer as I needed to get the spare tire out of the box. The carrier is very well made,nice craftsmanship. I also had to buy longer bolts as my trailer has a 5 inch frame, I knew about this when I ordered,not an issue. Easy to install,great product.
Twice the heft of the original cheap carrier on my Minnie Winnie, and with minor mods it puts the spare up above the rear bumper rather than hanging behind it. Perfect solution.
This is a great Spare Tire holder, very well built, very sturdy. Not flimsy like other spare carriers .
I added it to my motorcycle trailer, spare tire is mounted out of the way too.
It was easy to install and fit on my trailer tongue just fine. Appears to be solid and well built. I also got the spare tire and wheel from etrailer. It's one of those be sure to take it, but don't want to use it items.
Solid unit, but why not include the tire mounting nuts
I had to buy longer bolts to fit my trailer frame but I knew that was coming. Installs in a few minutes.
the bracket didnt fit over the bumper i had to get the base widen 1'.

This spare tire carrier is meant to work with a 4 x 4 inch trailer frame. It sounds like you have a 4 x 5 frame. I checked and I do not have this style of carrier for a 4 x 5 carrier.
Durable, only 1 thing i wanted to put it on my 4x4 rv bumper and its not 4", i thought it was 4x4 so i have to take it to a machine shop and get the holes wider
Everything came as ordered. It's built very well. Looks to do the job as advertised. Shipping as expected.
Great product but the lug nuts are 1/2 20 and the studs are 1/2 13 Could you send me the correct lug nuts?

I have a 20 ft. Cargo trailer V nose with an extended tongue. This is a robust tire carrier that works great in this application. One star down because I had to buy longer bolts for my 6 inch frame.
It was a good heavy tire mount, the only problem was it did not fit over 4" rv square bumper, it was only 31/2" between bolt holes. I had to re-drill outside bolt holes to mount, it was a little trouble but works fine.
The spare tire carrier was exactly what I expected. Installed it on an Aluma Trailer. Easy to install and very good structural quality. The ease of adjustability is a huge plus for a range of tire/wheel sizes.
