Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at the replacement base for the B&W Companion OEM fifth wheel trailer hitch for the Chevy and GMC trucks. It has a 25,000 pound weight capacity. Now this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2016 and newer Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 trucks with the eight foot bed and the factory rail kit. And on a custom fit part, I always like to recommend for you to go to our website, use our fit guide. Put in your year and model vehicle and it'll tell you if this'll work for your application.
Now this part is just the replacement base. Fits the B&W Companion OEM fifth wheel trailer hitch, part number BWRVK3705, which we do sell separately on our website.This video's just going to go over the base. Now this base comes with these adjustable pivot arms. This'll let you mount your hitch head to fit your application. Basically when you mount these arms to the base here, it allows you to either move the arms fore or aft because of the design of the arms are like a triangular design.
So you can move them fore or aft to improve cab clearance. Basically if you bolt them one way, it'll be . it'll put your king pin 2" behind the axle or if you turn it around and bolt it the other way, it'll put your king pin right over the axle. There's a 2" difference there.You can also, depending on the height, on the base there's five rows of holes. Depending how you bolt these arms into what position, it'll give you three different hitch heights settings.
The hitch height settings will go anywhere from 16-3/4", 17-3/4", and 18-3/4". And hitch height is critical because when you tow your fifth wheel you want it to be as level as possible. Now if you notice on these pivot arms, at the very top here, these are polyurethane bushings. That's what the head'll rest on. Gives you a nice rattle free ride.To install this into your vehicle, it's a very quick, simple installation.
They're designed to just drop right into the OEM receiver pucks that are built into your factory under bed rails. These tabs right here, what you'll want to do to install it, you just pop your pin out, rotate your handle 90 degrees and that'll rotate those tabs. And you'll do that on each corner. Once they're all open, they'll drop right into the pucks in the factory under bed rails. Once they drop in, just rotate the handles back. To line up the hole, put your pin back through. Whoops, there we go. And then clip it into place to lock the handle into place. And you do that on each corner and you're all ready to go. It's a very simple installation.If you notice on this base, has a nice gray powder coat finish. It is steel. It is corrosion resistant. This part is made in the USA. A few specs on this, the gross towing weight capacity again si 25,000 pounds. Tongue weight capacity is 6,250 pounds. But that should do it for the review on the replacement base for the B&W Companion OEM fifth wheel trailer hitch for the Chevy and GMC trucks with a 25,000 pound weight capacity.
