Hey, guys. This is Jake here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the BMW Companion Slider Hitch Replacement Base. There's a couple of different reasons why you would need to get a replacement base. One of which would just be the looks of it. If your old one is getting rusty, or if you had it for a long time and you'd just like a little bit smoother operation, you can either try to rebuild your old one, or just pick up a new one.
It's gonna have all the same specs as your original one did, except you're gonna get those new bushings on top, which are gonna make for smooth operation. And we do have the (indistinct) replacement upright kit if you are looking for that. But, again, it's gonna have that same BMW thick powder coat paint. The sliding operation is gonna be just like the one you already have. Pull the lever, push it back so it lock into place.
There's many different things that could go wrong with these. Like, if you're out on a camping trip or anything like that, and something we're to get tweaked, it's probably better off just picking up a new one, rather than trying to fix it, 'cause there's so many components here that work together, and you want to be safe when you're out on the road. This replacement base is gonna have the same capacities that your old one did, at 20,000 pounds gross trailer weight towing, and 5,000 pounds gross pin weight. That's a downward pressure on the hitch itself. The package that it's designed to fit is for your GM truck.
So, your Chevy's and your GMCs. It should drop right down in the puck system, and then you can lock it into place. So, the bottom line is, if you need a replacement for your GMC or Chevy truck, and you have a BMW Companion Slider Hitch, this is gonna be the one for you and your puck system.

Offers 12" of travel.I recently sold my old truck and purchased a new one. Of course, the single mount hitch doesn't fit the new truck. I called etrailer to see if I can use the same hitch. The person, don't remember her name, said lets see what we can do. She said you cannot use base you have for the new truck. Here's what we can do. Purchase just the Slider Base then you can use the original head assembly. That's was great. You saved me about $600 by keeping my original head assembly. I really like my B&W companion hitch. The only problem I had with the new base was how to easily lineup the pins to the truck pucks. The instructions made me think it was easy, not so much. Anyway, that is my only complaint but I think after a few times of removing and install, we'll get better at it.
do not like it at all it is so heavy it takes two people to move it tailgate has to be down if you side it back and the camper that i have has no problems turning, was told i needed it because my truck is a short bed
I priced this hitch at 2 local dealers and then purchased it from etrailer for $[XX] dollars less than the lowest local price!!! Part of my initial order was lost and had to be reshipped, but customer service which was a real human being was very helpful, efficient, and courteous. I had no trouble installing the hitch by my self, and that is saying something for a 76yo. I would never consider buying anywhere else. $[XX] - WOW! That will pay for a lot of diesel to pull my new 5th wheel camper!
Great customer service! A phone rep helped me troubleshoot my issue so I would order the correct hitch base to fit my truck. Loved the free shipping! And my order arrived 3 days sooner than initially expected!! My hitch fit perfectly and is very solid- well made.
Love this slider. Had some damage done to my truck and 5th wheel when we upgraded due to the extra nose length. This has been a life saver. I no longer am afraid to make a sharp turn.
Arrived in great condition as expected. We've had the old style BW 5th wheel hitch with the square peg, this new base is a good cost effective way to use the same head in our new 2500 tow vehicle.
Well when I originally ordered this hitch for my new truck they said it was on back order and probably wouldn’t ship until June 22-24 but here it it the 28th of may and I received today and already have it assembled and installed in my 2021 GMC Sierra 3500 DENALI. I have used B&W hitches in the past and IMHO I think they are a top notch quality product. I have also Purchased from etrailer in the past and their prices can’t be beat. I look forward to shopping there again.

So far, so good. I've mounted it in the truck, and everything fits as advertised. RV is in winter storage, so it will probably be several months before I pull with it

Not great. Faring on the top rear of the cab on my 2020 GMC Sierra Denali reduces clearance by ~6 in, therefore the turning radius is severely restricted. One too many RV-to-cab contacts. Although Im sure under the right circumstance, this hitch would be great, it didnt work for me. I was able to trade my B&W hitch to a local RV dealer for an Anderson hitch, which works out much better for my purposes.
Adam did a great job...set reasonable delivery expectations and exceeded them.

Its been a year and over 12k miles since Ive installed the hitch. Its been in and out of the truck, a couple times. Im getting the hang of putting it together. I use and engine hoist and the optional eyelet to lift the beast out of the truck when I want to use the bed. Again, thank you etrailer for your help.
