Today we're going to review part number BWRVC3006. This is the replacement head assembly for the B&W Companion fifth-wheel trailer hitches. It has a 25,000 pound weight capacity. Now, this replacement hitch head will fit the B&W Companion fifth-wheel trailer hitches. This head assembly, when used with the correct B&W base assembly, will make up the B&W Companion fifth-wheel hitch assembly. The head, this has the dual jaw design, has the one-inch deck dual jaws, which will provide a 360-degree jaw-to-kingpin contact. That will give you less rattle and more security than the slide bar jaws.
It has this cam-action latching handle which helps prevent binding. It's very simple to release, even on un-level terrain, and it is lockable. It comes with a pinning clip, but it is also lockable if you buy a padlock that we sell separately you can put through here and permanently lock it. But just to show you how this handle works is you release the pin and clip, and then as you move this handle towards the cab or the front of the tow vehicle, you'll notice that the jaws do open, both dual jaws, and then when your kingpin slides in here, the weight will push up against the back here, which would force this handle to slide up, jaws would close around the kingpin, your handle would only go so far, and then you just drop your pin and clip in, or your padlock, whichever you decide to use. You just drop that in there to lock it into place, then that handle wouldn't move and it'll keep the jaws wrapped around the kingpin. It does have a fully articulating head when this is installed on the pivot arms.
It will rotate front to back, and this plate right here will go side-to-side so that fully articulating head will ease the hook up, helps to limit chucking. This head assembly is made of steel, and it's a gray, powder-coat finish which is corrosion-resistant. Again, the max gross towing weight capacity on this is 25,000 pounds. Max vertical load limit is 6250 pounds. But you need to remember those when this is installed on the base assembly to get the whole fifth-wheel hitch.
The capacity that this head assembly will have will be determined by that capacity of the base that it is installed on. And then one last thing I want to show you is when - this is taken off the base assembly, but when you go to install it onto the pivot arms, basically what you would do is you pull the clip out, pull the pin out, pull the clip over here, pull the pin out, and then what you do is you grab these two handles right here and when you pull up to lift it up that'll allow you to drop it on the pivot arms, and then when you let this down, it'll hold it into place, and then you put your pins back through. The reason they do this, it'll make it a lot easier when you have the whole fifth wheel installed in your vehicle, and if you don't have anybody around to help you remove it, you can actually remove the head assembly to cut down on the weight, and then you can remove the base assembly separately as just one person. And then once you install you put your pin back in, and go ahead and put your clip in, and do the same over here, once this is installed on the pivot arm. And then put your clip in, and with those installed that'll hold it on the the pivot arms of your base assembly. Fully articulating head eases hookup on unlevel ground.One of the most stout 5th wheel heads and bases. Very simple and extremely durable. The fact that this head breaks away from the base makes it possible to remove the head and base with only one person and without a lift or getting a hernia.
Shipped and delivered as expected. This is an amazing hitch and I needed a replacement head and this came just in time. Greased and ready to go!
Product was just as expected great quality. etrailer was excellent to deal with and fast shipping. I received my product a day earlier than expected.
Installation was fairly easy. Followed the included directions an verified each step with the product video. Drilling a 4 inch hole in the bed of the truck was a different story. But hole lined up perfectly with the center piece an the bolt holes of the bed frame.
The only draw back was there is not enough room to tourqe all the bolts to spec. I moved my smaller 5th wheel last week about 40 miles an will be using it this weekend to move my 40 ft toy hauler.

Damaged. Both pieces came in factory B&W boxes. Both boxes have accessory packets inside. Those accessories are very heavy and not packaged very well. They are free to bounce around in the box and put chips all over in the powder coat paint. Now it is going to rust! For $1300 you think they could use $2 in packing paper. My packages were tossed about by at least a dozen people according to the tracking. All I can say is that this is poor.
Etrailer on the other hand is being very helpful in resolving some of my problems. They are sending a new coupler with no questions asked. The handle is bent from the rough trip making it impossible to use. Amy was a pleasure to work with. Hopefully the next one will be ok.
Fit is perfect awesome customer super rare these days I could not be happier with my purchase and experience they were right there to answer all questions and concerns

This Head assembly is very well built, I purchase this so when I get a fifth wheel trailer I will be able to tow with confidence. I purchased the base unit used. So I'm all set to tow whatever trailer I purchase!

Great looking heavy well made product and the unit was shipped the night I ordered and received Monday after the Thursday night order. Good phone service with call back service from etrailer when lines are busy so no long on phone hold waiting time waste.

Awesome setup. This is from someone that has been using an auto slide that was noisy and jerky. This unit is simple and very serviceable.
Product is great! Unfortunately the parts bag from the manufacturer was short a couple of items. I called etrailer and they took care of everything! Overnight delivery on the missing parts. etrailer’s customer service was second to none!

This was a replacement. I was stuck at a campground and needed the head unit asap. When the new unit came in, the right side was bent and the would not go all the way down. It's working and locked in place but, I do worry about it

Bought as replacement for used companion slider base. Came with leveling spring. Well built, hitches and unhitches easily from trailer.
LOVE THIS SYSTEM EASY TO ATTACH TO MY CAMPER. EASY TO REMOVE FROM THE BED OF THE TRUCK, LEAVING A FLAT CLEAR SURFACE WITH OUT THE CLUTTER OF RAILS TO SLIDE CARGO IN AND OUT . THE 4 WAY MOVEMENT OF THE FIFTH WHEEL PLATE ALLOWS FOR A VERY SMOOTH RIDE WHEN PULLING MY CAMPER WITH LITTLE TO NO SWAY GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND AROUND CORNERS . THE SWINGING LATCH SYSTEM IS GREAT. NO GUESSING FROM INSIDE THE TRUCK IF ITS CONNECTED .ONCE ITS HOOKED JUST DROP IN THE SAFETY PIN AND YOUR READY. ONLY DOWN FALL IS THE HITCH ITSELF IS VERY HEAVY TO MOVE. This hitch works great for us. We got a new Chevy truck with the puck system. Hitch locks in very easily. Also, we are older, and this hitch splits into two 75lb pieces which makes it much easier to get in and out as opposed to one 150lb unit.
Best part is it completely ended the bucking that we had with our old hitch. Ride is super smooth and very easy to hook-up and disconnect.
Worth every penny.

Great product, easy to remove from pickup box and easy install. When hooking up to 5th wheel visible from cab and release arm readily shows you if ready to lock down or released.

Coupler works like a charm and is not showing any signs of wear and tear after approximately 25 trips with the 5th wheel. Great product!

I have had my B&W Companion hitch for over a year now in my truck. Best hitch I have had. Easy to change from 5th wheel to goose neck. No problems. It was easy to install with the assisting video from the e trailer website.
