Replacement Base for B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ram

B&W makes a Great product, my 3rd hitch. Base came in 2 days, undamaged and in perfect condition. I cut my bed mat so as not to interfere with base installation. Bought the B & W BASE unit that fits our RAM pickup OEM puck mounting system. We were able to transfer the upper fifth-wheel portion from our previous B & W hitch. While still spendy, it did save us several hundred dollars over a completely new hitch package. B & W is as good as it gets! etrailer shipped and we received the new base in just a few days time. Surprised to get it this quickly.

Excellent! The most secure towing we have ever done. Will recommend etrailer and B&W.

This is a heavy duty base. I bought a new 2017 Ram truck and had to update to a base that would work with my new truck. I had a 2012 Ram and B&W Companion OEM fifth-wheel Turnoverball goose-neck hitch. I could still use the upper portion or Assembly Head for my previous base on this new base. This base handles 25,000 lbs. where my older base would handle 20,000 lbs. Much stronger and heavier, but then it locks into place in all four corners where my older base locked to the the turnover ball, instead, with two u-clamps. Had some difficulty installing it, but needed to read the instructions in some more detail and loosen the two bolts on the legs to get the lock pins to fall, exactly, into place and re-tighten the leg bolts, when finished. Like I said, It's heavy. Think the UPS driver told me it weighed 138 lbs. He and I had to wrestle it out of his delivery truck. Last step of installation, I was missing the "Leveling Kit", but the box came damaged from shipping and I am sure it was lost during that process. I got in touch with etrailer and to make a long story short, B&W is sending me a new one... no charge. Angela W. at etrailer was super great to work with. I call that "customer support". Working Great! Only hitch I will ever purchase! Quality!

Paula was wonderful person to work with. Ordered hitch base on Wednesday afternoon and was told I should receive it middle of the next week but I would receive shipping instructions. Friday of the same week my heavy hitch arrived at my house. I couldn’t believe it. It had only been two days. Product was in excellent condition. After 1 year still happy with this hitch. I havent taken it out since, due to the weight

I purchased the 5th wheel base for a 2018 Ram 3500 with the puck mounts. I had a B&W goose neck mount for my previous truck so I planned on using the 5th wheel head of that hitch on the new base. I ordered the Base from etrailer on a Tuesday night (10:30 PM) and had confirmation from their shipping department that the parts shipped on Wednesday at 4:30 AM... If that wasn't impressive enough, ALL of the parts arrived by noon on Friday and without a scratch I might add. I had the entire assembly installed in less than 30 mins by myself. It fit perfectly. I double checked all of the bolts and nuts and everything was properly torqued. This base took the towing capability of my old hitch from 20k to 25k... Shipping was fast. Great product. Hitch sits up higher than the reg companion. I set it on lowest setting 17". I had to raise my pin box on my fifth wheel RV 4 " and it sits perfect now. 280941

I was disappointed that the first part came and it was just dumped in my drive way with no box or such. It was scratched up from delivery. The second part came a day later in a box. My husband almost drove over the first delivery. We have purchased Companion hitches in the past and do love them.1501732

I already had another companion hitch of an older style. However, I was able to interchange the actual 5th wheel hitch on top of the newer style Companion. The puck system makes it very easy to lock in and not deal with torquing anything down. It's also a very sturdy piece of equipment! Have to admit, the puck is too heavy. It works like a charm and is a solid piece of equipment, but just too heavy to load without another person, machinery or back strain. Looking for other options because of this!

The hitch arrived in great structural condition, but that perfect powder coat paint that B&W applies is scratched in a couple of places. The hitch and components had done a lot of moving around in the shipping container. I would suggest a wood base to hold things in place. The delivery person rolled the box out of the truck; maybe a 'this side up' stamp on the box would help. 167543

I really love this hitch I got it out of the box and I said right away that this is a beefy hitch when it came it was very well package great but one thing that I would said bad about the packing I didn't get one of the clip or spring that goes on one of the leg. I didn't think that was a issue those since I had one already but if I didn't have one it would have been an issue since I was going to use it shortly after it arrive.

Wow, this hitch is the cat meow of all hitches so after little over a year this is one solid hitch but I also would like to comment on etrailer the one that sold me this hitch it A+++++ company. I have bought a few things from etrailer over the years and man I am very please with them, oh yeah the hitch is great also I would say buy this hitch now you want regret it.

Product and price are spot on! Shipping was spot on and only took three days…to get here. Processing and getting product out was way less than satisfactory! Website showed an estimated delivery date only three days out and showed the part was in stock. After ordering and three days of not seeing a shipment notification I called. I was told the prosaic was in another warehouse and was being transferred to the main warehouse at which time it would then ship out. I needed this hitch for my truck for a trip. Luckily I have a friend with a ram and the same fifth wheel that fits the puck system. They could not tell me when it was going to ship not could they say really anything helpful. Their shipping estimates are not reliable, even if you cal before the order. They will tell you it’s in stock but don’t know what warehouse stuff is in or how long it will to process your order. If you are on a deadline to get your products, go somewhere else and pay more, it will be worth it. If you can wait, for whenever they decide to ship something, save the money and order from them1342247

Purchased this for our Ram 3500 puck system. Extremely well built. This product is heavy duty. Love that it is build in the USA. I feel secure having this hitch for my 5th wheel. I did have a bit of a problem getting the latches to close and while adjusting the nuts on the cam latches a bolt stripped. I called B and W and they had a new bolt and nut shipped to me in 3 days no charge. The customer service was amazing! One draw back about B and W is the weight. It is heavy to move around by myself, but this is the price I am willing to pay for having a hitch that will hold up in extreme circumstances. 629411
