How Much of Each Gauge of Wire Fit Inside a Wire Loom Comfortably

Question:

This may be a very simple question but is there a guide or some rule of thumb as to how many wires can fit into a specific size wire loom? This comes from me needing to rewire my trailer so I am starting fresh and I know the max number of wires that will be in the loom so based on that what is the appropriate size loom to use. Ex 1/4inch loom can comfortably house 5 10 gauge wires I made this up but something like this would be helpful in deciding what to order. Also, do you sell ground wire 10 or 12 gauge by the foot that is the white color of trailer ground wire? I would like my wiring to be consistent from front to back and since I need to buy new wire I am hoping I can match the color?

I would certainly recommend the 1/2-inch wire loom # 459075-1. It will hold two jacketed 2 wire 10-gauge wire and three jacketed 2 wire 12-gauge wire. See pictures to the right.
In addition, I was able to fit comfortably eleven individual 16-gauge wire # DW02359-1 into the 1/2-inch wire loom.
I also took a digital caliper to measure the exact radius of each type of wire:
10-gauge is .17 of an inch, 12-gauge is .14 of an inch and 16-gauge is .09 of an inch.

The 10, 12 and 16-gauge wiring is sold per foot and only the 16-gauge comes in the color white.

Since you are rewiring your trailer I would recommend using a junction box # 38656 as it will provide quick and easy way to wire trailer plug to trailer wiring. If you are needing a 7-way connector for the trailer side, the Hopkins # H20046 will work well. It's a 7-blade connector with wire that measures 8 feet long. Or a Wesbar 4-way flat connector # W787268 that is 8 feet of jacketed cable.

The Hopkins Deluxe trailer wiring kit # HM51020 is an additional option you may want to consider.

How much weight can sit on top of this product. I’m using it to put low voltage wire inside and my landscape rocks over it
