Ground Clearance with Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch 36408 Installed on a 2014 Chevy Equinox

I currently drive a vw golf with u-haul hitch. It is simply too low and the car too small. Im looking at a 2014 equinox. Can you tell me the distance from the ground to the bottom of this hitch when installed?

When we installed Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 36408 on a 2013 Chevy Equinox (it also fits 2014 models) it measured 14-1/4 inches from the ground to the top of the receiver opening. But to the bottom of the hitch it would be approximately 12-3/4 inches (subtracting 1-1/2 inches for the thickness of the metal and the receiver opening). This will likely be much better than on a VW Golf.

If you plan on doing some towing the correct ball mount is # 36051. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256 and for a 2 inch ball use # 19258.

For trailer wiring you can use # 118494 if the vehicle does not have the factory tow package. If it does have the factory tow package use # 118264. I have linked videos showing how each installs.
