Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, I'm gonna take a look at the etrailer 30 foot long ratcheting tie down straps with the flat hooks. They have a 3,333 pound working load limit and this is for a quantity of two straps. Now these are heavy duty tie down straps that'll let you secure the cargo in your truck bed or your trailer. They do use a nice sturdy ratchet mechanism. If we zoom in here, we can talk about it.

Makes it very easy to tighten down your strap and maintain tension on the strap. You can see just by cranking it, it'll ratchet your strap up. Does have a nice, long, wide, hard rubber handle here, gives you a nice good grip even if you have gloves on. And right down here, this release lever also has a hard rubber edging on it. This release lever will let you disengage the ratchet when you're ready to unload or free wheel.

So basically, if you just raise that all the way up all the way to this side, you'll see that you'll be able to pull out as much strap as you need, let you free wheel. And then the other feature is when you get it to how much you need, just pull this up, put it in the ratchet position and then just go ahead and tighten it down, just like that. And then on the other side, again, if you pull up this ratchet, and once you get it all tightened, pull it up and put it all the way down into the lock position. This will engage a safety lock and it keeps the ratchet from ratcheting on its own. So once you have this all tightened up to where you need it, put it in the lock position and it'll keep this from ratcheting.

Now the hooks on these, they are nice wide flat hooks on each end. This will let you anchor your strap to rails, edges or other similar tie down points. The strap they use on this, it is a nice two inch wide durable polyester webbing just like a seatbelt, and it is abrasion resistant. If you noted, it as also a nice bright yellow color, makes it very easy to see in day or night. Now a few specs on this, again, it is- This part here is for a quantity of two ratchet straps.

A strap dimension on each one is two inches wide, 30 feet long. Maximum load or break strength is 10,000 pounds per strap. So the safe working limit which would be a third of that is 3,333 pounds. And if you notice on the strap, they do have a little tag on it that'll show you the working load limit. Now, one note I do wanna mention is tie down straps and their accessories must be chosen according to that safe working load limit, meaning the weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined working load limit of the straps that are being used. So just to give you an example, if you're using straps that have a working load limit of 500 pounds each, and you're tying down a load weighing a thousand pounds, then you'll need at least two straps to safely secure that load. And they do like to always recommend that you use straps in pairs.
