Recommended Bike Rack for a 2015 Ford C-Max and RadCity E-Bike Step-Thru
Question:
Can you give me any recommendations on a rack for my 2015 C-Max, other than a different car and a 2 inch hitch. I only need to carry one bike, 2 would be nice but not totally necessary. Thank You for your recommendations.

We definitely have some options for you!
The first option is the Saris Freedom # SA4412B. This bike rack is a little unique because it uses a center post and some cradles on the center post (as well as the wheel trays) to secure your bike(s). It is a little more difficult to load/remove a bike but this does have a 60 lb per-bike weight rating while only weighing in at 23 lbs.
The other bike rack option that will work is the Thule EasyFold XT # TH903202. This bike rack is the cream of the crop as it has a 65 lb per-bike weight rating, it weighs in at 45 lbs, comes with bike and rack locks, plus it has a storable ramp that makes loading heavy E-bikes on it a cinch. The EasyFold XT is definitely easier to use than the Saris Freedom EX but that does come at a price. I have attached review videos of both bike racks for you to check out and compare on your end.
Please not that it's always advisable to remove your battery from the E-bike during transit. This should knock the weight of your bike down to at least 60 lbs so it is compatible with either bike rack.
For a trailer hitch (is you don't already have one) you can either go with the Curt Class II Trailer Hitch # C12092 which has a 1-1/4" receiver, or the EcoHitch Trailer Hitch # 306-X7200 which has a 2" receiver. Both have a hidden crosstube and still allow you to use your Hands-Free Liftgate (if you have that feature) so it really boils down to which receiver size you want. I personally prefer 2" receivers because it opens up the door to a wider variety of accessories but if you only plan on using this for a bike rack there is nothing wrong with the smaller 1-1/4" receiver.
No matter which option you go with, the 2 bike rack choices I have weeded out for you can fit both receiver sizes. Please keep in mind though that Ford has stated in the owner's manual that your 2015 Ford C-Max should not be used for towing so there aren't any safe weight capacities I can give you for your vehicle.
