Recommended Curt Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2005 Honda Accord

Question:

Curt Class I Hitch for 05 Honda Accord. For the C11290 hitch I believe it is secured to the tow hook and then screwed into the trunk/spare tire area. Is there anything to be concerned with here that the hitch isnt secured to any of the car frame/heavy metal? Im not planning to move anything to large with the largest item to be potentially moved being a riding lawn mower on a small trailer.

You are correct in how the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver -Class I - 1-1/4" # C11290 is mounted. This hitch has been tested to hold a maximum tongue weight of 200 lbs and a maximum trailer towing weight of 2,000 lbs when loaded. A riding lawn mower on a small trailer is probably at close to the maximum capacity of this hitch, so I recommend calculating the weights before doing this as your owners manual states 1000 lbs towing max and 100 lbs tongue weight.

For your trailer wiring, I recommend the Curt # C55502 for a sedan or # C56053 for a coupe. These wiring harness options plug directly into existing wiring, so no cutting, splicing, or tapping is required. These custom-fit T-connectors plug into your Honda Accord's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side interior trim panel in your rear cargo area.

For a ball mount compatible with your hitch receiver, I recommend the Curt # C45016. This will also require a hitch ball like # A-82 for a 2 inch option or # A-80 for a 1-7/8 inch diameter ball to match your trailer coupler size.
