Vertical Movement on Curt Trailer Hitch # C11327 Installed on 2007 Honda Accord
Question:
Ive installed the CURT 11327 Class 1 Trailer Hitch on to my 2007 Honda accord. It looks great, but Ive noticed that theres vertical movement in the hitch. The location where the hitch attaches to the tow loop is loose. The tow loop is sandwiched between the flanges of the hitch, and with the 1/2inch carriage bolt tightened to 110 lb-ft, theres still a 1/8inch gap. Have there been any others with a similar dilemma? What would be the best solution? Let me know. Thanks.

I spoke with my contact at Curt regarding the Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11327 on your 2007 Honda Accord. He stated that while they have not heard of any issues like what you are describing with the small gap between the carriage bolt and tow loop on the vehicle, it is possible that there is a small manufacturer variance with the tow loop itself. It might be that the tow loop on your specific vehicle is just a tiny bit thinner than normal.
He stated that under normal circumstances, if the carriage bolt is torqued down to the specifications listed in the installation details, then the flange should pinch the tow loop to eliminate that movement. He said that in your case, as long as everything if torqued properly, you can safely use a thin washer to shim that gap you are seeing and that should fix the issue.
