Recommended Hitch and Wiring for a 2009 Toyota Tacoma Truck
Question:
2009 Toyota Tacoma base model has no wiring harness or hitch. Is the 118384 the only wiring I need, along with the hitch?

For the 2009 Toyota Tacoma, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver, # 13323. This hitch is designed to custom-fit both the standard Tacoma model and the X-Runner. This hitch is a Class III rated hitch and will have a 2x2 inch receiver hitch opening.
Since your Tacoma was not wired with a towing package, then the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness, # C55513, is the wiring kit I recommend. This harness will connect to your vehicle using already existing wiring plugs located in your Tacoma's wiring. There will be no needed to cut or splice into the OEM wiring of your truck.
Since it looks like you are planning on towing, then I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, use the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.
