Will Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 41938 Fit a 1986 Chevy K Series Pickup Truck
Question:
I am having trouble finding a hitch for my 1986 k30 chevrolet. Crew Cab 4x4. It says this will fit my application but must have 19 inches from end of frame rail to spring shackle. I am not exactly sure what they are referring to. Doesnt the hitch go around the rear shackle? Isnt that why there is the one single bolt hole in the front. I dont have anywhere near 19 inches from what I am calling the spring shackle. Thanks for your help.

On the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 41938, the 8 bolts used to attach the hitch each go into the frame rails on the truck. When I spoke with my contact at Draw-Tite he gave a much more clear description of what you will need for this hitch to mount to your truck. Basically, the hitch is 19 inches long. If you measure from the end of the frame rails at the rear of the truck towards the front, you will need at least 19 inches with nothing in the way in order for the hitch to fit.
I have included a link to the installation instructions for reference. The recommended ball mount is # 40331 and you can use pin and clip # PC3 and ball # A-90 (2 inch diameter) or # 19286 (2-5/16 inch diameter). For trailer wiring, you would need T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Trailer Connector, # HM41115. I have included a link to the installation details and a link to a video showing a typical installation.
