Solution for Fixing Hitch Rattle on a 2016 Jeep Compass with Curt Hitch Installed
Question:
I have had a curt 13081 hitch placed on my new jeep compass 2016. It is very close to the muffler and at low speeds the muffler and hitch touch creating a rumble sound. Is this normal or was it installed incorrectly? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you

Hitch rattle is a somewhat common occurrence after the install of a trailer hitch. The easiest solution is to bend the exhaust hanger up so that the muffler sets further above the hitch.
If bending the hanger does not provide a solution, another option is to try and replace the rubber exhaust isolater with a shorter isolater. The shorter isolater will help raise the tailpipe up futher away from the hitch.
I have attached a help article and video that covers these ways to help correct hitch rattle.
