Arrived in a pretty badly torn and re-taped box. I was worried the bolts/hardware would be missing. The hardware and bolts were found taped up tight to the receiver with the worlds strongest tape! I grabbed the bolts and hardware dropped them into the frame rail. I had help with one guy on one side and me on the other. lifted it up and put the nuts on. Checked it for a centered and even mounting on the frame rails. was on in 16 minutes!! Torqued to specifications. This was a very easy install on my 2003 F150 4x4. The spare (245/75/16) was not in the way at all. It doesn't get better than this as far as ease of purchase, fast delivery and quick install. Fits perfectly mates very nice with the rear bumper. Who ever taped that hardware bag to the receiver deserves a raise or a paid day off. They saved the day! totally happy with this product and etrailer.com

The C15303 hitch is a perfect fit for my 1996 /97 Ford F150 NEW BODY Style (ie rounded nose) truck. (standard, 6' bed) It bolted on, no drilling needed, no problem or interference with the under body, full sized spare tire.

2002 Ford F-150

This is the second purchase I've made from eTrailer and have been impressed by the customer service and quality of the products I've received. In this instance, I bought a Curt Class V trailer hitch for my Ford F150. Absolutely straight forward instructions and installation--took me all of 30 minutes to get it mounted.

2001 Ford F-150

The receiver fit perfectly and only took 15 minutes to install and the 7 way kit and the brakes controller only took about 10 minutes to install really great products and fast shipping thank etrailer

1997 Ford F-150

I have a 1997 ford f150 XLT with the stepside bed. Might want to note that the exhaust needs to be spread apart and the exhaust hangers need to be cut out of the way and relocated. Other than that little problem the hitch bolted right up. Tricky to do by yourself i would recommend a second set of hands but can be done by yourself

I'm very satisfied with this receiver. It makes my F-150 a true towing vehicle. A perfect fit, relatively easy to install.

by:
2010 Ford F-150

This literally only took 10 minutes to install once it was out of the box. Fits perfectly (03 F150). Did not have to remove or lower spare tire.

  • High Towing Capacity Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 1999 Ford F-150
Since water and hay can weigh quite a bit I would recommend a hitch with a higher towing capacity for your 1999 Ford F-150 like the Curt Class V part # C15303 which has the highest towing capacity of the hitches we offer for your truck.

  • Curt Class V Hitch for 1997 Ford F-150
The correct hitch for your 1997 Ford F-150 2WD will depend on the bed type, either stepside or regular, and in terms of towing capacity you can select a hitch class that matches the truck's own capabilities or just go for a heavy-duty Class V. All hitches for the truck appear on the linked page but I suggest you use the Class V Curt hitch # C15303 so long as you have a 20-inch or smaller spare tire. • What Size Spare Tire Can I Fit Under My 2002 Ford F-150 With the Curt C15303 Hitch Installed
I've seen where it says that in a few answers, as well as the tech notes, and they are referring to the wheel diameter - not the actual tire diameter. The most common tire size found on the 2002 Ford F-150 is 255/70r16 which has a diameter of 30-1/10". The Curt # C15303 has 32-3/8" between the mounting holes (measured center on center) and roughly 34" between the side mounting plates. I've attached a photo of the hitch with a full sized spare installed, so as long as you do not have...

I took a look at the owner's manual for the 2001 Ford F-150 5.4L 4WD Super Crew and the maximum trailer weight that can be towed with this vehicle is 8,300 lbs with or without a weight distribution hitch if you have an automatic transmission. It mentions your tongue weight should always be between 10-15% of the weight of the trailer. I do recommend verifying the capacity in your printed copy of the manual. The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Class V XD # C15300 is a confirmed fit for your 1997 Ford F250 Super Duty truck. This is a fit for the larger 37-1/4 inch frames. The B and W Class V Trailer Hitch, # BWHDRH24400, which is designed for your 2003 Ford F-150 has four mounting holes on each side but according to the installation instructions, only three of those holes are used. • Class V Trailer Hitch Recommended for 1997 Ford F-250
The right hitch will depend on whether you have the F250LD (basically and F150 with a beefed up suspension) or the F250HD. If you have the LD model pickup, I'd recommend the Curt # C15303 or for an HD model pickup, use the # C15300. Either hitch is a super-high quality item that will give you years of trouble-free service. The B & W # BWHDRH25198 you'd looked at is also very high quality, but it's higher priced than the Curt no better in quality. I've linked the installation instructions...
