Weight Distribution for a 2012 Nissan Frontier and 4,000 Pound Trailer
Question:
Hello, Im looking to eventually tow a camper with my 2012 Nissan Frontier V6 that will be roughly around 4000lbs. Which weight distribution system would you recommend to go with this hitch for this purpose?

For your 2012 Nissan Frontier and trailer hitch # 87539 you will need a weight distribution system that is rated high enough for the total tongue weight of the trailer. This is calculated by taking the tongue weight of the trailer, when loaded and ready to tow, and adding to that the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.
A trailer weighing 4,000 pounds would have a tongue weight around 400 to 600 pounds (10 to 15 percent of the gross trailer weight).
For a good system that covers this whole range I recommend the Fastway e2 # FA94-00-0800 rated for 400 to 800 pounds tongue weight. This system also features built-in sway control. The only other part needed is a ball, # EQ91-00-6100, for a 2-5/16 inch.
I have included some links on weight distribution and determining tongue weight for you.
