Recommended Weight Distribution System For 2004 Dodge Ram Towing Travel Trailer

Question:

Hello, Im moving from a pop up to a very light 20 ft travel trailer. I need to know what hitch and sway control I would need, if any. The camper is 2840 lbs empty and 3500 lbs GVWR. Dry hitch weight is 370. Ill be towing with a 2004 Dodge Ram quad cab hemi, just under 8000 lbs towing capacity. Looking for fairly inexpensive, but easy to remove and would like to be able to go in reverse without removal. Was looking at part # FA94-00-0800. What would you recommend? Thanks!

The Fastway weight distribution system you were referencing, part # FA94-00-0800, requires a minimum 400-lbs tongue weight, and would not work for you but I do have a solution.

I recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System, part # FA92-00-0450. This system has a 4,500-lb towing capacity and a maximum 450-lb tongue weight capacity.

If you find you need a bigger system, I recommend part # FA94-00-0600. This system has a 6,000-lb towing weight capacity and can handle tongue weight between 400 and 600 lbs.

These systems allow backing up with the system installed, and are less-expensive than most of the systems available.

The hitch ball is not included with these systems. If you need a 2 inch hitch ball I recommend part # EQ91-00-6080, and if you need a 2-5/16 inch ball I recommend part # EQ91-00-6100.
