Pivoting Arms with Ratcheting Hooks

Thule T2 Pro XTR ratcheting wheel hooks

The T2 Pro XTR has ratcheting hooks that grab your bikes firmly by the front wheel, so it won't scratch or scuff the paint. To load a bike, simply place your front wheel in the cradle, rotate the arm up and over the wheel, and press down firmly on the ratcheting hook. To unload your bike, press the gray button on the upright arm to release the ratcheting hook, and slide the hook up.

Sliding Rear Wheel Cradles

Thule T2 Pro XTR sliding wheel trays

The wheel trays have cradles with ratcheting straps to secure your rear wheel to the rack. The cradles slide along the tray to accommodate bikes with a variety of wheelbases. To secure your wheel, run the strap over the rim and back down through the strap buckle and pull tight. To remove your bike, press the quick-release button on the buckle and undo the strap.

Front-Mounted Handle for Easy Tilting and Folding

Thule T2 Pro XTR folding and tiliting designThule T2 Pro XTR cable locks

The rack tilts down with your bikes loaded. So, whether you're at the trail or the grocery store, you don't have to remove your bikes to access your cargo area. It also folds up when not in use. This leaves a smaller footprint, so you can keep the rack on your vehicle to park in your garage. And if you want to remove it, it doesn't take up as much space to store it.

Thule T2 Pro XTR folding and tiliting design

To make tilting and folding easier, the T2 Pro XTR's release lever is mounted on the front of the rack. This means you won't have to reach through or around your bikes with one hand to reach the lever, while supporting the rack's weight with the other, when lowering the rack. Instead, you'll be able to hold the rack with both hands the entire time.

Tool-Free Installation with Anti-Rattle Device

Thule T2 Pro XTR cable locksThule T2 Pro XTR cable locks

The rack quickly installs in your hitch receiver, without the need for tools. Just slide the shank into your hitch and turn the knob until snug. Turning the knob deploys an anti-rattle wedge in the shank to help take play out of the hitch connection. It also sets the integrated SnugTite hitch pin into place, securing the rack to your receiver.

Thule T2 Pro XTR ratcheting wheel hooks

The T2 Pro XTR has built-in wheels that let you easily roll the rack so you don't have to lift it and carry it to your vehicle.

Complete Security

Thule Pro XTR loaded on vehicle

The T2 Pro XTR includes One-Key System locks to secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle. Integrated cable locks thread around your bikes' frames and insert into the lock that slides along the cable. The cables store inside the arms when not in use.

Thule T2 Pro XTR loaded on vehicle

The lock on the hand knob secures the rack to your vehicle. Once locked, the hand knob will spin freely so a would-be thief can't operate it. The locks are keyed alike, so you only need to use 1 key. Additional One-Key System locks (sold separately) let you make all your Thule products keyed alike.

T2 Pro bike rack was delivered in a very timely manner. The rack was as described, extremely easy to assemble and is super user friendly! Exactly what I was looking for so my wife can use it by herself.

Thanks

Wonderful! It has performed exactly as I expected it and allows us an easy, stress free way of Tran sporting our bikes to the trails we like to explore. Getting the bikes on and off is simple and takes little to real physical strength.

Great product, great company to do business with. etrailer is the best. Friendly, helpful and they made sure the bike rack was shipped immediately and it was delivered on time.

It has been great. Used it a few times and I am very pleased with the product.

by:

The quality of the rack is very sturdy and well built. I needed a rack that has a 12” spacing between wheels do to the baskets on each bike, and this rack delivered that. The issues I have with this rack are: I have a GMC Yukon suv and with the rack mounted I have to lift my two Lecritc 2.0 e-bikes, at 60 pounds each up over 24” to get it mounted. It sure could use ramps, which I know it did not come with. The clamp hold down does not work with fenders on a bike. It does not clamp very well on the cross bar (male and female) type do to the width and the angle of the cross bars. When clamping in front of the front fender makes the bike very unstable, and will require additional strapping and tie downs to secure the bikes. It claims it is for e-bikes, but only if it has no fenders. Nice rack, just not for me.

Those are some impressive bikes! I do have alternate bike racks to consider. One is part # Y36FR which does come with a ramp to make it easier to load the bikes. You can view it in the link below on a 2015 Toyota 4 Runner. Another new option is part # SAR42RR. This one does require for the vehicle to have a seven way installed. It is unique in that it has an electric lift to install the bikes. You can see a review of it in the link below.

I had a great trunk rack. However, it would not hold an E bike due to the weight. This rack does a great job of holding my E bike. The rack also allows for me to get into my hatch where a trunk rack would not.

Ive had this hitch rack for a year now. This is a great rack. It is still a great investment. I dont have any problems with the bikes on the rack. It also is very durable.

by:

I previously owned the Thule T2 classic hitch that was damaged in an accident. After researching a replacement, I found the reliability of Thule and significant advantage of being able to easily roll the XTR into the hitch with very little lifting effort. This is a major improvement considering the weight and unwieldy nature of the Classic version. The only negative as compared to the Classic version, is loss of the lockable wheel bars and the awkward short lockable cables on the XTR.
This is more than offset by the ease of mobilty and use of the XTR model.

Product has been great after a year of use. Wheel design on newer model makes it soo much easier to mount on hitch than older model

by:

Great product, well built. This is my third Thule bike carrier. Very straight forward directions and easy to assemble.

by:

Service was ok. Regular website, email, tracking. But what I received was a disgrace. I thought I took advantage of a holiday sale, and what they sent me was what looks refurbished.

by:

I love this bike rack, was told it was extremely hard to get last summer with supply chain but etrailer had one and it got to us quickly. We have 2 pedal-assist e-bikes, one is quite heavy; no issues whatsoever with this rack, it is excellent. Highly recommend both the rack and etrailer.com

Jonathan

excellent. it is in montreal with us right now. very happy with the purchase and feel lucky it was available during the supply chain situation. Pleasure working with you.

by:

This bike rack is amazing! Only negative is that the included instructions for assembly are not great, but videos I found online helped with that. I can install this rack on my hitch and have bikes loaded up in just a few minutes, and it makes traveling with our bikes easy since we can still tilt it down to access the back hatch even with bikes attached. Best of all, this rack is INCREDIBLY sturdy. On vacation with two bikes in tow, I got a flat tire on my car and had my car towed to a dealership to get new tires. I had to have it towed on a flatbed because it was the only way to transport the bikes as the back of the car was full of luggage. When the tow truck started to pull my Highlander onto the bed, the angle of the car/flatbed was steep enough that the bottom of the bike rack (an angled piece of metal that hangs down where right where the rack attaches to the hitch) began scraping the ground. I was worried that the bike rack had been damaged, but it didn't even get scratched even though the metal of the rack scraped about a half inch off the surface of the asphalt!

After a year of using this rack, I would still highly recommend it as one of the sturdiest and most functional bike racks out there! It is incredibly easy to put on and take off, but if you leave it on as I usually do it is still easy to get into the cars hatch whether you have bikes loaded on it or not. Loading bikes on the racks is quick and easy, and it holds them securely. I can use it with my carbon frame bikes since it puts no stress on the frame, and even with my heaviest steel and mountain bikes it holds them in place solidly. It IS fairly heavy, but is still easy to get on and off the hitch, and the wheels on the bottom make it easy to move around in my garage when its off the car. One of the best purchases Ive made!

by:

The Thule T2 Pro XTR rack is outstanding. It is sturdy and built to last, and the wheels make it easy to slide up to the trailer hitch and engage it easily. The tilt feature leaves adequate access to the back of my Subaru Forester. The bikes ride in complete security. My one quibble is that the locking cables are far too short to be useful on our bikes.

David

3/18/2023

Very well. It took a loading or two before I got the moves right for loading a heavy ebike, but once researched, it is easy to do. Very secure, very durable.

by:

Very nice bike rack. Instruction manual nearly incomprehensible but there are plenty of good videos on line to help with assembly. I assembled myself; probably easier as a two person job

Good as new

by:

Obviously great quality! Not hard to install; however, I suggest watching [online] video prior to installation. Manual with pictures wasn’t very helpful.

by:

Was delivered quickly. This isn't the first item that I've purchased from eTrailer and have always had a great experience. It was easy to assemble if one places it in the hitch to do so. The instructions are a little difficult to follow as they could use some verbiage to guide one along. Other than that it was easy to assemble. The rack is heavy and it is nice that it has wheels to help move it around.

by:

When I was in the market for a bike rack, I wanted to get the brand Teo of the guys I ride with have. I had used those racks while going to different places with them. This brand was out of stock and when it finally came back in stock, it was more expensive than before, so I decided to get Thule T2 Pro XTR. This was a really good decision. I like this rack much more than the brand I originally wanted to get.

I highly recommend it.

by:

Great product. The instructions are picture only. I had to visit the University of YouTube to understand how to use the hitch lock. If the instructions had been written this would be five stars.

by:

Just got it. Purchsed to transport an Ebike on a Ford Escape. The rack is heavy and solid. Not hard to assemble or to mount in the 2" receiver. Not sure how I will work around the fenders on an Ebike but I'm pretty sure there will be a way. (Some sources on the internet say not compatible with fenders.) The wheels will be helpful and the swing up mechanism works nicely.

by:

Great customer service and fast deliver y!

by:

Sturdy, handles and installs easily.

Works fine, no problems.

by:

Works great with larger than average wheelbase bikes (new Stumpjumper). Easy to use, the instruction manual sucks, watch some YouTube videos to put it together. I like that it tilts down for hatchbacks. This is pretty much the best on the market. It's expensive but you'll never wish you'd got something else.

Nathan

2/6/2023

Had it a year. Still pretty good. I did have the handle latch kinda detach from the release cable internally but I was able to screw it back in, didnt need any additional parts. Pretty quick fix and it only happened once, no other issues than that, its been great.

by:

Works great for carrying our e-bikes and mountain bikes. Solid construction. Stable and secure in use. Integral cable locks are nice. On our 2012 Rav4, there's plenty of clearance between the spare tire cover and nearest bike. Clearance is adequate between the spare cover and carrier with the carrier folded up.

by:

Super service as usual my highest level of praise to your company

by:

Solid construction, easy to use, extremely stable, and well engineered. Stores away easily with integrated wheels. Love the ability to lower the rack when it is on the vehicle (with the bikes on it) in order to give clearance for the tailgate to open. Some assembly is required but that was straight-forward and relatively easy. Assembly gives you the opportunity to custom position the racks from left to right as you like. My only minor complaint is that the locking cable integrated into the rack is too short to fit all the way around the frame of a large eBike. It works fine with a thinner framed pedal bike. I just use a separate heavy duty cable lock when carrying an eBike.

by:

Rack does a great job and able to load and unload bikes quickly. Only negatives are that it is quite heavy and small bottom clearance occasionally results in bottoming out. But that may be due to my Equinox hitch also being low. I did find using a block of wood for the hitch to rest on as you slid the hitch into the 2” receiver made it easier installing the hitch. Also using a shock cord to secure the two bikes together gave the two bikes a little more stability. Overall very happy with unit.

by:

I have no issue with etrailer.com. My order was shipped promptly and as usual their communication was stellar. When I received the product, the box had several holes in it and over half the assembly hardware was missing. I got replacement hardware locally. I bought the rack to carry our e-bikes on the back of our trailer. It replaces a Kuat that isn’t heavy enough to do the job. The product seems sturdy enough but the assembly instructions are pitiful; some of the worst I have ever seen. You’d think that a product at this price point would have decent instructions. Thank heaven for [online videos] In comparison with my Kuat, the fit and finish is much better on the Kuat. I do have high hopes for this product, but so far the jury is out.

by:

Big heavy rack for big heavy bikes. It does the job well. I secured each bike with an additional compression strap for safety. Like that it can be rolled around when not in use.

  • Will the Thule T2 Bike Rack Fit on a Toyota FJ Cruiser
The Thule T2 bike rack # TH83JV fits a 2 inch trailer hitch receiver. If your FJ Cruiser has a 2 inch trailer hitch then the bike rack can be inserted in it. To determine if it will clear the back of the vehicle you can measure from the center of the hitch pin hole on the vehicle straight back to the part of the FJ that sticks out the most. If your measurement is less than 7 inches the bike rack will fit and if less than 5 inches it will also fit when folded up. I have linked a video...
