Determining If 2020 Subaru Legacy Can Carry Bike Rack with 2 e-Bikes

Question:

I am looking to find out if a 2020 Sub Legacy hitch can hold a Thule bike rack and two e-bikes? We use that rack on the VW we own but dealer told us Sub Leg hitch cannot hold e-bikes.

Based on what I can find in the owner's manual for your 2020 Subaru Legacy it is rated for 270lbs of tongue weight if it has the 2.5L Engine, or 350lbs of tongue weight if it has the 2.7L engine instead.

Chances are that your Thule rack and bikes are under this rating as most e bikes are about 60lbs with the batteries removed (You should always be removing the batteries when transporting an e-bike), and while you didn't tell me what Thule rack you have, most like the Thule T2 Pro # TH83JV that are capable of carrying e bikes weigh 50-60lbs.

As long as you stay under the factory tongue weight limits from owner's manual you should have no problems.
