Hi there flat towers today, we're going to be taking a look at Roadmaster's replacement monitor light for their supplemental braking systems. The monitor light illuminates inside your motor home when the brake pedal's depressed in your towed vehicle. You can see that here, when I hit the brake pedal, the light's going to eliminate. We're using a 9,700 breaking system from Roadmaster. So there is a delay, but you saw that it came on there. And then when we let off the brake here, it's going to go right off.
And this is going to work the same for all of our Roadmaster braking systems. But with some of those you won't experience that delay. You may need this light if your original one ceases to function, or if you've bought a new motor home and you're moving your components over to that motor home. Now, if you are moving your components over to a new motor home, in addition to your monitor light, I'd also recommend picking up Roadmaster's motor home monitor cable, which we have available here at etrailer.com.And that's going to be 50 foot of cable that has a bullet connector on one end that you can connect to the positive side of your light, which is going to be the red wire, and the other end you route to the back of your motor home. So you've got that bullet connector back there to plug in the patch cord that completes your circuit.
But for ease of shopping, we also have a kit available that has your monitor light, as well as the wire that you'll need to get it all installed. Now I didn't put the clip on the light yet, so you could see what it looks like, but if we slide it out here, you'll see it's got a couple of prongs on it, and that's what holds it tight in place. But there's also an additional metal clip that you can slide on after you've got it in to ensure that it stays in place.But with that clip on there, you can't pull it outside. I went ahead and removed it already so we can slide it out further so you can see the two wires here on the back. We've got a red wire and a white wire.
The white wire is your ground wire, and you can simply run that to ground using a self-tapping screw and a ring terminal or an existing ground stud that you have on your motor home. And this is the red wire that you'll hook to the monitor cable that we just spoke about, and this will run all the way to the back. You'll see here, it's labeled for 12 volts, so this is designed for 12 volt systems and it is an LED light so it's going to last significantly longer than your incandescent bulbs. And if you are installing this on a new RV, you'll be happy to hear that you do get a new Roadmaster sticker as well, because the likelihood of this one peeling off and sticking on your new RV is pretty low.We're now here at the back of our motor home, where you can see the single bullet connector that runs up to our monitor light. And that's right there.
We have our patch cable here, and if you're moving this over to a new motor home, you can use your old patch cable, there should be no issue with that. This wire here, however though, is likely going to be very difficult to remove from your motor home, so that's why we have it available as well here at etrailer.com. Works as advertised

Easy installation, just what I needed to complete the invisibrake installation.
Didn’t realized how critical this little LED light is, if you want to be alerted when the towed vehicle’s braking system has a problem. If you’re towing without it, you need to add one.
I actually called eTrailer to find this part to equip an additional tow vehicle. The eTrailer rep was very helpful.
Could be cheaper solutions of led lights, but this works fine and is easy to install in a 5/16" hole. Only problem is that it doesn't come with the sticker that labels the light. Not sure why not. Mine was in a plastic bag and maybe it was missing the original label.
I love the quality of the products I ordered. Customer relations was very good as well, they kept me informed and even though it took several weeks and etrailer had to wait on items to get to them, I was communicated to well. These little LED lights can be used for a variety of other things besides just a replacement bulb. Any circuit where you need to know if something is getting power.
