Replacement Reed Switch with Bracket for Demco Air Force One Flat Tow Brake System

Today we're going to take a look at the replacement reed switch with bracket for SMI Air Force One supplemental braking system.This is going to be a replacement for that reed switch on your actuator for your SMI Air Force One supplemental braking system. This is going to be what tells your braking system to activate the indicator light that's typically mounted on your towed vehicle's rear view mirror.We'll have our bracket. This is going to wrap around the actuator, itself. It comes flattened out like this and there's a little keeper on that screw, so you can just take that off and then remove the bolt and that washer. You can slide that little piece along the holes until you can get it wrapped around your actuator. It typically goes on the front and then these two pieces are going to meet up together.

You can see that it fits snugly like that. Then, you would replace the bolt and the washer down through there, tighten it into that nut. You'll need a pretty small Phillips-head screw to get that tightened down.Once that is in place, then you would attach your actual reed switch to the bracket. This slides into the little holster there with the side with our flathead screw facing up. It slides inside and then you would tighten that flathead screw to secure that in place.

On the other end we'll have our three wires. Blue, black, and brown. The blue and black wires are going to be connected to the indicator light, again going typically to the back of your rear view mirror. Some people mount it on their dash. Wherever you have that, that will mount into that.

The brown wire will get connected to a 12-volt power source.There is a diagram on the wire to help you remember what wire goes to what or you can also, of course, check your instructions that came with your SMI Air Force One. A pretty quick and easy way to replace the part if they got damaged or if they happen to become misplaced.Again, this is a direct replacement from SMI for your Air Force One braking system reed switch.
