Provider Radials

Provider radials are constructed with double polyester cords and double steel belts for increased durability and endurance. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation. Provider radials are bake tested - a process usually reserved for automotive tires - to ensure that the rubber holds up over time.

Close up of prg80235 tread

The standard tread on this tire has solid, continuous ribs, and there are very few sipes (or thin grooves) cut into the rubber. This tire is designed for use on trailers, so it doesn't require the level of traction that would be needed on a vehicle that is braking or steering.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

So good I recently bought 12 more for three more trailers. Thanks for the great service and excellent products. Dan

by:

Got tires today. Not mounted yet. They come highly recommended and look great. Much better than the Hispec oracles.

by:

At first glance I am giving 4 stars. The tires look much better and sturdier than what the RV manufacturer put on. Once I’ve had a chance to run the RV with these new tires, I’ll update the review.

by:

I mounted and (static mode) balanced 4 of these for my RV. The sidewalls and the beads are very thick. I put 105 psi in them. I was worried about a rough ride but they actually pulled very smooth. Not on thing shook loose over 2200 miles. The tires stayed cool. When I set my breaks up I dropped my gain back 7.5 to 7.0. These tires slid slightly at about 5 mph with 12000# on them. The OEM tires seemed softer @ 80 psi and I figured this is what prompted the adjustment. If you plan to dynamically balance them,be ready to part with some weights. Like any big heavy duty tire, the side walls tend to have heavier heavy spots. I’ve learned that good balancing on highway tires saves interior, suspension components, light bulbs, welds, bearings and tires. I’ll report back in a few thousand miles. We will see how they do in this Louisiana heat.

We have put over 7000 miles on the tires. Very little wear. It is pretty amazing how well they hold air. The temps run very low on the road. So far, so good.

by:

This order took about 5 months to get because the item was out of stock and was back ordered. etrailer staff was very cooperative when I called to get the current status of my order. The tire was a replacement for another one that was damaged in a mechanical breakdown. I traveled about 4,000 miles so far on these tires and they don't show any signs of wear. They are mounted on my fifth wheel with a 16,000 lb capacity and are performing perfectly.

by:

These have performed flawlessly. I have blown many a tire on my trailers, some new and only a few months old. These are Currently on Forest River Wildcat MAXX 5th wheel. I have used these a year and no problem. Here in the West the Temps are above 100 degrees and speed limits of 75 mph. I you have repeatedly blown tires think about speed rating. My old tires would come apart at highway speeds. These are rated at 81 mph. Easy math, speed limit 70 mph pass a truck and you will exceed 80 mph easy. I recommend these to anyone who is driving on highways with speeds above 65 mph.

by:

I purchased these tires about a year ago as an upgrade to my class E stock fifth wheel tires. In the past year I have put about 10,000 moles on them including 3 trips to the desert camping and a cross country trip from CA to upstate NY. These tires have been perfect. I checked the pressure every morning and evening while driving cross country and never dropped pressure, only normal heat inflation. Tread looks new still, drove through 100 degree weather, rain, and a small snowstorm and these handled great. I am still using them today and they continue to exceed my expectations. I have had them sitting in my driveway for 3 months now and just checked the pressure and they are still at 110psi.

by:

After multiple blowouts using E range tires I decided to try these G range tires out. Have not installed them yet, but these are beefy tires and look much better than anything I’ve bought before. Went ahead and bought the metal valve stems with the tires. Can’t wait to get on the road with these.

The primary cause of premature tire failure is excessive heat build-up. The main causes of excess heat are overloading the tire, exceeding the tires speed rating and improperly inflating the tire. Each tire has a 4,080 lbs capacity if used as a single or 3,640 lbs if used as a dual. The tire carries an M speed rating, good for up to 81 mph and the tire should always be kept to its maximum

by:

fantastic customer service, very fast shipping and great product

by:

After wearing out two sets of light duty tires I decided to go with the 14 ply Providers. We got 6 & 7000 miles out of the first two sets, stock and a set of Goodyear Endurance. The Providers have got over 4000 miles and you can’t see any wear at all. Plus the stiffer sidewall let it sway much less. We really like them. Recommend them to anyone wanting better load capacity and handling.

by:

Great customer service. Order 4 tires and received them 3 days later. Had an issue with one tire damaged probably caused during shipping. Called customer service a minute later she had a replacement in route. 3 days later it was on my door step. I really didn't expect that kind of customer service. Thanks again Tammie. I will definitely do business with again.

by:

Received my tires today they look great, they look a lot beefier then the crap they put on the 5th wheels today. after having two blow outs in less then 6months I was looking for a better quality tire and reading the reviews I figured I give them a try.

by:

Now that I am tax exempted I will continue to order from your company. The free shipping of over $99 is a big deal for me to continue doing business with your company. The tire are of good quality and I am satisfied with my purchase.

by:

  • Recommended 16" Wheels with 6 on 5-1/2 Bolt Pattern for Load Range G Tires
If you were to go with 16" wheels with a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern, the highest capacity wheel we have available would be something like the Aluminum HWT Series S5 Trailer Wheel - 16" x 6-1/2" Rim - 6 on 5-1/2 - Black Item # AM22658HWTB; this wheel has a 3580-lbs capacity, so it's not going to fully maximize the roughly 4000-lbs capacity of a Load Range G wheel like the Provider ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range G # PRG80235. However, going up to a wheel with an 8 on 6-1/2" bolt...

  • Recommended ST235/80R16 Tires for 5th Wheel Trailer
You can certainly move up to a Load Range G tire, which will have a load capacity of 4,080 pounds at 110 psi in the ST235/80R16 size tire that you currently have mounted. The biggest cause for tire failure is excessive heat. This can be caused by overloading the tires, not inflating them to their maximum psi, or exceeding their speed limit. Trailer tires should always be inflated to their maximum psi as listed on the sidewall. To replace your tires I highly recommend the Provider St235/80R16...

  • Why Does Trailer Tire Weight Rating Drop When Used in Dual Tire Setup
Good question. Trailers that use dual tires on both sides of the same axle, so that a tandem axle trailer with two such axles has a total of 8 tires, will often have a lower per-tire rating for that dual-tire setup. In other words, the total capacity will be less than 8 times the single tire rating. For example, one single Provider ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire # PRG80235 has a weight rating of 4080-lbs when it is used as the one tire on each end of the axle. But if it is used in a dual-tire...

  • Will A Trailer Wheel With A 2280lb Load Rating Hold Up To 110 PSI From ST235/80R16 Tire?
I would be happy to help! Wheels do not have a PSI rating, as that rating is solely for the tire, and the valve stem. Since the Provider ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range G # PRG80235 have a max load of 4080lbs at 110 PSI you will need to use a valve stem rated for that much pressure or more. I recommend going with the Americana Metal, Bolt-In Valve Stem - 1-1/4" Long # AM20906 which is rated for well over 100 PSI, and will hold up perfectly with 110 PSI. When it comes to the...

  • Are Provider Brand ST235/80R16 Tires A Good Quality Tire?
Yes, Provider tires like you ST235/85R16 # PRG80235 are indeed a good tire and unless there is excessive wear or damage to the tire there is not reason to replace them. These tires are very popular among our customers due to the quality and durability for the cost. The Goodyear Endurance ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire you mentioned is also a good tire but has a lower load rating at 3420lbs at 80 PSI compared to the 4080lbs at 110 PSI of your current tires so you would not be gaining...

  • Are 6-Lug Rims Compatible with 110 psi
Great questions! I will answer your questions and then give a recommendation on what to do. a - The valve stem is more or less what determines the max psi rating for a wheel. So yes, there are wheels that can handle 110 psi as long as they have a metal valve stem. b - You definitely can swap out your current rubber valve stems and replace them with metal valve stems like part # AM20906. • Are 235/80/16 Load Range E Rated High Enough for a 15,000 lb GVWR Trailer
Great question! The thing that a lot of people forget is that the tongue weight (TW) of the trailer takes some of that GVWR. Since a properly loaded trailer should have a TW that is 10-15% of the loaded weight of the trailer this means that if you carried enough stuff to sit right at the GVWR of 15,000 lbs then your axles would be left to carry between 12,750 lbs - 13,500 lbs of weight. Although this means your 7,000 lb axles are rated high enough to handle the weight, unless you are nearer...

The larger size of 235/85-16 will have a bit higher capacities typically and a very slightly larger size than the size you currently have of 235/80-16. If you need to replace all the tires you want to go with the part # AM10295 that you referenced which has a capacity of 3,640 lbs at 95 psi. Absolutely; it looks like your 2021 East to West Tandara 320RL 5th wheel trailer uses 235/80R16 tires, and you can go from 10-ply load range E to 14-ply load range G tires safely, and without issue. It only seems short compared to car tires which wear out due to mileage faster since they are typically used more. So the reasons trailer tires blow out is typically for three reasons.
