Selecting Correct ST235/80-16 Special Trailer Tires

Question:

Would Cooper ht3 tires be better on a trailer than onyx 14 ply tires

When putting new tires on a trailer the most important things are to ensure you select special trailer type tires (the ST type) in a compatible size and with the weight load range needed to handle the weight of the fully-loaded trailer.

Special trailer tires are available in both bias ply and radial designs. Radial trailer tires like the Provider # PRG80235 that you referenced are better for highway driving since their sidewalls have more flex and since they are rated for up to 81-mph. Bias ply tires are better for rough roads and off-road conditions since their side walls are stiffer and can handle heavy loads under rough conditions.

Cooper's HT3 light truck (LT type) tires are all-season radials intended for pickup trucks, full-size SUVs, vans and commercial vehicles. They are not special trailer tires so I do not recommend them for use on a trailer. Onyx makes radial trailer tires which would be better suited to a trailer. We do not carry either of these brands so I do not have customer feedback to share with you. Two helpful articles about tires are linked for reference.
