Video Transcript for Malone Cam Buckle Load Straps Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the 12-foot long Malone Cam Buckle Load Straps with Buckle Protectors, part number MPG307-12. These also come in nine-feet long, 15-feet long as well as 18-feet long. The Malone Cam Buckle Load Straps with Buckle Protectors are great for tying down your kayaks, your canoes, or your stand up paddleboards on your Malone Water Sport Carriers. The rubber portion here underneath our buckle has a neoprene sleeve around it, and this is going to ensure that your kayak, your canoe, or your stand up paddleboard won't get scratched once this is being installed. These are UV resistant straps with cross-box stitching at the end for a sturdy hold. The buckles themselves are galvanized and corrosion resistant and have a no-slip center spring-tension device to make sure your strap stays tight. It has a pull strength of 1,200 pounds.

This will come in a quantity of two straps. Now that we've gone over some of the features of the strap, let's go ahead and show you how it installs. Once you open the package, these are the two straps that you'll get. Now we'll move on to our kayak carrier, install the straps and stow our kayak, cinch them down and we'll be ready to go. Putting our buckle end through first so making sure they sit inaudible 00:01:15 here on this particular kayak carrier. And we'll repeat that for our front mount. And now we can install our kayak.

So, we'll take our straps, bring them around the front of our kayak, making sure our buckles are about half-way up there. We'll do this for the front as well. How this particular kayak loads up, we'll bring our strap underneath and up. We'll come to our buckle here, and we'll pull our cover back just a little bit for a little bit better view here. You can see it has a point to thread our open-end strap through.

Push that through first. We'll feed it through our buckle, bring that down and around. We'll pull the strap nice and tight, pulling our protective cover back around it. Then tying off our excess. Now we're ready to attach our inaudible 00:02:22 tie-downs if we have them, and we're ready to hit the road. And there you have it for the Malone Cam Buckle Load Straps with Buckle Protectors..

Average Customer Rating:  4.7 out of 5 stars   (22 Customer Reviews)

These are the perfect size for a kayak on a roof rack with saddles. They don't stay super tight but I can't tell if that is normal or due to minor shifting of the kayak. I like them though.

by:

Easy to use. They secure my kayaks well and sure beat the heck out of ratchet straps which always give me problems.

Working well, fully functional and easy to use.

by:

Great, nice to have Thule quality without the Thule price. Gave it 4 star only because I have not used it extensively

by:

These are sturdy, reliable straps. We use two of them to tie a canoe to the roof crossbars on our Subaru Outback. It's great to have padding on the buckles in order to protect the canoe and the car. It does take a bit of hand strength to slide or hold the pads out of the way when threading the strap through buckle. I searched the web quire bit to find suitable cam straps, and etrailer's selection of strap styles and lengths is very good.

by:

Better than the Thule straps that came with my roof rack. Easy on and easy off. Very secure hold over long trips through 4 states. Very important tool for peace of mind in toting three kayaks hither and yon.

by:

I did a lot of reading about cam lashing straps before I ordered from Etrailer and this is the best ,a great strap at a great price. Look carefully before you buy a strap to make sure it will hold up, losing a boat or any load will be way more then you save on a cheap strap made from the wrong material.

by:

Perfect for our kayaks, strong and appreciate the buckle protectors. These straps are difficult to find in stores. Competitive price and quick delivery. I would recommend etrailer to anyone.

by:

Awesome load straps at a great price. No longer will I ding up my paint job loading my kayaks etc. Thanks Etrailer!

by:

This was one of the few places who had these hard to find straps in stock. They are replacing my old ones so I know their quality. Once I placed the order I received a very nice, personal email from George who recommended a similar item that was on sale and would arrive quicker. Throughout the order I received updates from them about the status/delivery of my order. Such efficient and personal service. I will for sure order from them again as well as recommend to my friends.

by:

Will work very well for strapping a cart to the roof rack

by:

Good quality, replacing sun-damaged Thule straps.

by:

Good quality straps, but they are nearly impossible to get the strap threaded through the slot on pad that wraps the buckle. they are also really hard to get them super tight, so overall I wouldn't recommend.

by:

What I needed when I needed it. Quick informative answers to my questions. Thank you

by:

Excellent product selection and customer service. Speedy delivery and follow up.

by:

Safe from scratching the car
Are strong
and secure for the kayaks.

by:

Works well,a little hard to thred the strap through the buckle.

  • What Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack Do You Recommend for Transporting 2 Kayaks and a Paddle Board?
I have a great solution for you. As far as the length of the Malone AirFlow2 roof rack, both the 50-inch version # MPG215 and the 58-inch version # MPG216 are recommended fits for you vehicle. With that being said, I recommend the 58-inch # MPG216 because you will ultimately have more room to mount accessories on your 2014 GMC Acadia. Unfortunately, if you plan on transporting 2 kayaks and a paddle board at the same time, we do not currently have any accessories that will allow you to...

  • Best Value Roof Rack and Surfboard Carrier for 2020 Toyota 4Runner with Factory Raised Rails
The best option for a cost effective roof rack for your 2020 Toyota 4Runner is the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack # MPG215. This complete roof rack comes with the two aluminum aero crossbars, four towers, installation tool and it even comes with locks and keys as well. I actually had the chance to install this roof rack and it only took me about 15 to 20 minutes to unbox, slide the towers on the bars, position them on the rails and tighten them down. You can't beat the value and functionality...

  • Can Malone Cam Buckle Load Straps MPG307-18 Be Used To Secure Kayaks To 2021 Audi AllRoad?
Thank you for your continued business! You can absolutely use Malone Cam Buckle Load Straps with Buckle Protectors - 18' Long - Yellow - Qty 2 # MPG307-18 you were looking at to secure the bow and stern of your kayaks to your 2021 Audi AllRoad. These will work perfectly with the Rhino-Rack Anchor Straps # RRRBAS-2 you purchased, and will be much easier than using a rope like you are currently using. The Malone Cam Buckle is available in different colors but the each color is also a different...

  • Will the Malone EcoLight Sport Trailer # MAL53FR Have Enough Space for Our 2 Fishing Kayaks?
If you are set on transporting your 2 fishing kayaks that are ~30 inches wide with the Malone EcoLight Sport Trailer - 58" # MAL53FR, you will be able to transport your kayaks as long as they are transported with a j-style carrier. For this option, I recommend the Malone EcoLight Sport Trailer that has 58" crossbars and has j-style that come with it. This is the Malone EcoLight Sport Trailer with J-Style Carriers for 2 Kayaks # MAL93FR. The j-style cradles will be able to accommodate kayaks...

  • Recommended Bed Extender for 2001 Ford Ranger to Carry Kayak
The good news is that bed extenders rely on the trailer hitch receiver on your truck and they're not going to be vehicle specific-which is why they're not showing up in the fit guide for your specific vehicle. So, as long as you've got a 2" receiver like the Curt # 13138 on your 2001 Ford Ranger you'll be able to use the Malone # MPG907 without any issues. This bed extender will add up to 62" to your truck bed and will provide a nice, sturdy base to carry your 14 foot long kayak. In order...

  • Can Two Ocean Frenzy Kayaks Be Carried On Thule The Stacker # TH530
I called my contact at Thule and asked about your Ocean Frenzy kayaks, and if they will work with the Stacker # TH830. They told me that since you sit on top of your kayaks, they do not recommend placing them on their side with the Stacker. They recommend carrying them hull side down so they don't have a problem with the wind. You may want to look at the Thule Surf Pad # TH845000. These measure 20 inches long and will fit standard crossbars. For tie-downs I recommend cam buckle straps...

  • Could the Thule Gate Mate Pro Be Used to Carry Kayaks or a Paddle Board
I suppose you could use the Thule # TH824PRO in this manner; however it's not going to secure the boards or kayak in any manner and it's really just an expensive pad at that point. If you do want to use this in this manner you may want to consider adding some cam buckle straps like the Malone Cam Buckle Load Straps with Buckle Protectors - 12' Long - Red - Qty 2 # MPG307-12 to keep the board or kayak secured in the truck bed. The best solution would be to use a ladder rack. To protect...

  • Are Additional Tie-Downs Needed For the Thule Stacker Part TH830
The Thule Stacker part # TH830 can be used to hold up to four kayaks if you have space for this. It comes with tie down needed for one kayak. Therefore, if you have two kayaks then you would also need the Thule Quick Draw Tie-Down Ropes part # TH855XT and the Thule Load Strap Cinch Straps part # TH523. If you want to save some money you can use a different brand for the tie-downs, the Malone Bow and Stern Tie-Down Kit part # MPG306 and the Malone Cam Buckle Load Straps with Buckle Protectors...

  • Will Kayak Carriers Work With TracRac Ladder Rack Bars for a 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500?
The TracRac SR, such as TA21781-02, uses four-inch wide crossbars, which rules out standard kayak carriers that are meant to fit, at most, 3-1/2 inch crossbars. You can still transport your kayak using your TracRac, but it would have to be done using just the bow/stern tie-downs, such as the Yakima # Y04031, as well as tie-down straps such as the Malone # MPG307-12.

  • What Do You Recommend for Transporting 3 Kayaks on a 2020 Nissan Titan?
I have a solution for you. We do carry the Rhino-Rack Nautic Stack Kayak Carrier w/ Tie-Downs - Post Style - Folding - 4 Kayaks # RRS520. The Nautic Stac will clamp onto crossbars with maximum dimensions of 3 inches wide x 1-1/2 inches tall. In order to determine a definite fit on your Haul Master Ladder rack, I recommend measuring those dimensions. The Nautic Stack also comes with hardware to use on t-slot channels. However, I confirmed with Rhino-Rack that the t-slot hardware will not...

  • Can Thule Hull-a-port and Malone Carrier with Load Assist be Used on 2019 Subaru Outback
The Thule Hull-A-Port XT TH848 should fit perfectly with the Malone DownLoader Kayak Carrier and TelosXL Load Assist # MPG114MD-351XL on your 2019 Subaru Outback with the stowable rack system. While I was not able to find the exact length of your crossbars, the Hull-a-Port takes up 20 inches and the DownLoader takes up 17 inches so you can check the length of your bars to be certain but I'm confident they are plenty long enough to fit both carriers. • Availability of Foam Block Kayak Carrier Compatible with Square Profile Crossbars
Although there are still a few square profile crossbars available, many are getting away from them slowly because the aero-style are much quieter. A block system like the Malone # MPG162 is compatible with both square and aero-profile bars. Once the kayaks are strapped down to the roof rack and at the bow and stern, it doesn't really matter what profile the blocks are compatible with, because the force of the straps holding the kayaks in place will prevent the blocks from moving.
