Recommended Bed Extender for 2001 Ford Ranger to Carry Kayak
Question:
Hi I was looking to buy both a truck bed load extender and a receiver hitch 2 in for my 2001 ford ranger. I want to transport a kayak 14ft. Can you tell me which truck bed load extenders are compatible with my vehicle? it doesnt seem to pull up any when I search, which I found hard to believe. like this one https://www.etrailer.com/Bed-Extender/Malone/MPG907.html

The good news is that bed extenders rely on the trailer hitch receiver on your truck and they're not going to be vehicle specific-which is why they're not showing up in the fit guide for your specific vehicle. So, as long as you've got a 2" receiver like the Curt # 13138 on your 2001 Ford Ranger you'll be able to use the Malone # MPG907 without any issues. This bed extender will add up to 62" to your truck bed and will provide a nice, sturdy base to carry your 14 foot long kayak.
In order to secure the kayak to the bed extender I recommend using the Malone Cam Buckle Load Straps with Buckle Protectors # MPG307-12, which are 12 feet long with padded buckles to help secure the kayak without damaging or scratching the hull.
I've linked some review videos of these parts for you to have a look at as well.
