    • Tail lights: 6 amps per circuit
  • Limited 1-year warranty

Installation

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side interior trim panels in your rear cargo area. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery and connect it to the positive terminal. Then insert the included fuse into the integrated fuse holder.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Powered Tail Light Converter with Surface-Mount Technology

A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.

Curt SMT Circuit Boards

Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.

Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

I sell and install
a variety of components for various companies and individuals. I have zero comebacks from this company. Not that I haven't received defective parts but they always make it right. And that is good business.

Another quality product from etrailer. Easy to install.

This harness worked like a charm on our 2015 Prius. Easy to install with clearly understandable directions... a rarity these days it seems.

by:

I think it took me about 90 minutes to install. The harness itself was a snap and took less than 10 minutes to connect and tie down.

by:

Install was easy as pie and the trunk lid closed without issue! Product is really good quality. Etrailer and the guys and gals running the show are AWESOME.

2012 Toyota Prius

The images in the installation pamphlet were from a different car and not the prius, so the connection locations were slightly different, but overall this is a great kit. It was fairly easy to install, only required to use a couple of the included zip ties to route the wires and a 10mm to connect it to the battery. No cutting or splicing of the car's current wiring system.

Really easy to install, perfect fit, recommended to everyone if you don't want the headache buy from Etrailer
Fit perfect my toyota prius 2010, my picture not the best picture it give you and idea.

I came across this site by accident and am glad I did. My girlfriend and I do a lot of canoeing and have been dealing with portage problems. This will now allow her to pull a small trailer behind her Prius for the canoe when needed for the 2nd vehicle.
The installation was simple and straightforward enough that with my guidance she was able to do both the hitch and the wiring harness with me as HER assistant. We almost didn't go this route because of other makers' products having to be spliced into the harness.
Thanks again ETRAILER.COM

nice and simple install, one power wire, one ground wire, and two connector jumpers. zip tie a few dangly wires, and zip zop zoo, bob's yer uncle.

by:

Package arrived early, Instructional video was easy to follow. I hooked up the wiring to my car myself and had a mechanic check to make sure it was all good. Looking forward to testing out with a trailer next week.

I purchased a T-connector wiring harness (item#C56147) made by Curt a year ago and installed it on my Toyota Prius. The installation is very easy diy. It has been working perfectly. Do not hesitate to buy and install yourself.

These guys are always prompt and have quality products. They also have a wide range of options: I now have a trailer hitch on my Prius and on my electric leaf. Thanks!

by:
2007 Toyota Prius

I like the plug in version a lot better than splice versions. The double stick tape in my kit seemed old and dried out, so I had to use some other tape that I had. Fuse holder was difficult to close. I would like better pictures and advice on best way to install in my 2007 Prius. Directions were not clear about how much of the interior I needed to remove, so I removed more than necessary. If i did it again, I would not remove any and just fish it behind the interior panels. It would be helpful if you provided a squish tube to protect harness for when the hatchback closes on it.

This was a great easy install, plug and play.Highly recommend..

I bought this and did NOT read the instructions. I just watched the video and installed the hitch and the wiring harness within one and a half hours. It was awesome. I was contemplating purchasing a truck because I am remodeling my house, but my brother suggested I get a trailer. I researched and found E Trailer. So simple and I am sooo Happy!!

The prices were awesome in comparison and saved on sales tax. Shipment came in 2 days after ordering!! Awesome...

Prius vs Trailer...

Thank you so much

It has been a year and Im still enjoying this product. When I was at Home Depot the other day getting Sheetrock a lady was asking about is as she had a blue Prius. I gave her product name and number which was conveniently on the hitch! I told her the ease of installing. Thanks again! Teresa

2005 Toyota Prius

It was very easy to install and use, and tuck out of the way when not needed. I use it many times over the past year on my 05 Prius for towing a utility trailer (have also installed overload springs). I have been very happy with the product and have recommended it to friends.

Bob J.

Just as well as ever! I still use it regularly to connect my Prius to a utility trailer.

by:
2010 Toyota Prius

Complete kit, easy to install in less than an hour on my 2010 Prius. No need for a multimeter no stripping wires and no drilling since I connected the negative wire to the battery and the module mounts with double sided tape. Trailer lights are nice and bright and correct. This is the way to go.

I hauled a 9ft, 900 lb. pool table 170 miles and got 45 mpg.

by:

The directions were easy to follow. It was relatively easy to install with the car's wiring harness using the plug connectors. The trailer lights have worked as expected and the connections have been reliable.

by:

After using this product for one year, I would definitely recommend it! It was easy to install and continues to work well!

2012 Toyota Prius

Bought this to install in our 2012 Prius III, along with the Curt hitch. I had it all installed with no problems in about 45 minutes. Works great and the quality of the product is excellent too. Thanks E-trailer!

10/21/2013

This was a LOT easier than I anticipated! Instructions are simple, the wiring harness is a real plug-n-play. Took me about 15-20 minutes. I never had a moment where I felt like I was in trouble with the installation. In fact, as I completed each step I found myself saying Thats it? Im really ready for the next step? Great product!

Patrick B.

10/23/2013

We are glad to hear the install proved to be easy. The modern plug-in kits are a much easier project than the hard splice kits. Give us a shout if we can help with anything or answer any questions.

Works perfectly

2013 Toyota Prius

Installed this on my 2013 Prius to tow my 8 foot trailer. This system included eveything I needed except for smaller hands to get into the tight spaces that Toyota provides.
Other than the ergonomics, which isn't the fault of eTrailer or Curt, this was a plug and play operation with clear and concise instructions.
I normally have the flatpack pigtail under the floormat, resting on top of the spare tire, so when it is not in use, there is no interference.
I give this device 5 stars, and have no problem recommending it to others.
I also give 5 stars to eTrailer for their prices and shipping speed.
You can't go wrong with this T connector harness, and eTrailer.

by:
2014 Toyota Prius

I thought the product was very well made, nicely priced and easy to install. The only negative is the instructions did not take into account a few things such as the silver mount rings and it says to pull back the felt to get to light plugs. This would damage it. Have to pull out a couple areas around this to safely get to the plugs.

Richard D.

So far still good

by:
2012 Toyota Prius

Went on without a glitch. Lights work right from the first hook up and every time! Will have to somehow secure the flat wire inside the trunk before it gets caught by the trunk latch - couple of pieces of velcro might do the trick.

Works great. Is “Old Reliable”. Lives in the back of the car, under the mat. Performs perfectly when used. My husband installed it and the trailer hitch to my Toyota Prius do we can trailer a trailer with two dirt bikes. Fun. He’s really good though. Said he could not have done it without my 13-year-old son’s help. It was a good father-son bonding project.

  • Adding a 7-Way Trailer Connector and Brake Controller to a 2011 Toyota Prius
A 4-Way trailer wiring harness such as # C56147 only provides the lighting functions on a trailer and not electric brakes. If the trailer has hydraulic surge brakes and not electric brakes you would not need to add anything to the vehicle or trailer. But if they are electric brakes then what I recommend is to install 7-Way trailer connectors on the vehicle and trailer and you will need a brake controller installed in the vehicle. The brake controller is what controls the trailer brakes. To...
