You are going to need to wire in a converter on your trailer in order for the separate tail lights of your trailer to function.
I would recommend you install a Taillight Converter # 118158 on the wiring of your trailer. This will convert the combined signal from your vehicle to a separate signal and should allow your trailer to function properly.
To wire it in you will need to take the right turn/stop circuit and run it to the green wire of the input side of the converter. Ground the white wire, and then run the left turn/stop signal to the yellow wire. On the output side you will need to run the right turn of your trailer to the green wire of the converter, the stop light circuit to the red wire, and the left turn to the yellow wire.
I would recommend installing the box in a safe location near the tongue of the trailer.
