Thoroughly Tested for Safety

This hub-and-drum assembly meets the requirements for certification by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). The CSA creates standards, which when complied with ensure a safe and quality product. This assembly underwent extensive testing to measure stopping distances when braking. This assembly has also been tested by QAI for braking performance in a complete automotive setup and under real-world conditions to provide the most realistic scenario for the everyday driver.

E-Z Lube and Easy Grease-Compatible Assembly for Simple Lubrication

The grease cap on this hub-and-drum assembly is specially designed to work with your Dexter E-Z Lube or etrailer Easy Grease axle to make lubricating bearings quick and easy. Just remove the plug on the grease cap, attach a grease gun to the zerk fitting on the end of the spindle, and inject the grease. It will flow easily to both inner and outer bearings. Not only does this make lubricating the bearings easy, but it also helps to prevent corrosion of the hub. This is because you can lubricate the bearings without the mess of taking apart the entire assembly.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Arrived fast and install went flawless.
After
one year later I rechecked the torque on lug nuts and the free play on center nut. All good…..my advice is get a spare to keep in trailer for an emergency repair, like what happened to me when all the wheel studs broke off and I lost the entire wheel!

by:

I purchased 6 of these hubs for replacement of what I call "mobile home" hubs so that I could convert to standard rims and tires. They worked perfectly. I have several thousand miles on them now with absolutely no issues. Excellent product!

by:

Our Flat bed trailer can do some pretty heavy work however we do not use this trailer all the time.
When the brakes failed we ordered from etrailer and the parts came in and we installed them without much ado.
Thank you for having all the parts we needed. After a year of seldom but heavy usage the self adjusting brakes are still working splendidly.

by:

The order showed up in a quick timing. Everything was in great shape and installation was a breeze.

by:

Exact replacement. One year later and still working great. About 2000 miles.

by:

these arrived ups in poorly wrapped boxes with one hub openly displayed but after close inspection it appears no damage and they fit onto the hub without issue. like they're pre-packed with grease, bearings so they are ready to install. they slid on easily and matched up with new brakes ordered earlier. all around great package for brakes overhaul. highly recommend

by:

Item is damaged, 1 lug nut missing, 1 stud cross thread, dust cap damaged.

Hub and drum assembly fell apart in the center within one year! Bearings look fine!

by:

Worked great! Very easy.

by:

Really heavy duty. The pre-grease takes all the hassle out of the replacement job.

by:

Great price and worked with no issue on 3,000 mile trip. It was great to install them already greased and ready to go.

by:

Perfect fit, and easy to install, especially with the video from the site!

by:

This was way easier than expected, the hardest part was the mess inside, but installing the kit per the online video instructions was a snap and I encourage anyone to do theirs. Here's a couple after pictures.

I was in desperate need for new hub/drum assemblies for my flatbed trailer. Once again etrailer came through for me. I particularly like the fact these arrive assembled with seals and pre-packed bearings.

These hub and drum assemblies worked great right out of the box. They were easy to install. I have since sold the trailer but the brakes made a big difference in use of the trailer and in the resale value.

by:

The hubs bearings and seals are outstanding products and pretty simple to install. I had a small issue with the dust caps as they were to tight to just tap into the hub. I like the fact that the wheel studs in these hubs are a little longer than factory parts!
Great Product.

by:

Just got back from trip to Bowling Green. Pulled camper with 3/4t Ram. Adjusted electric brake and all worked perfect. Now, I did have 3 tire separations. They were 3318 date code load E on a 6500# camper. 3 of four separated, today replaced. Now FYI, 3 YEARS REPLACE TIRES!!! I try to replace between 3 to 5 years but haven't used the camper but 4 times and about 2k miles.

by:

Parts were an exact match. I replaced the brake assemblies, drums and bearings on my toy hauler. Was not sure these would work with Lippert 5200 lb. axles but, etrailer assured me I was buying the parts I needed.

by:

Perfect fit, easy installation

by:

I like ordering from here because of good service and quick delivery. I’ve only got about two thousand miles on my trailer since I changed bearings and hubs but everything seems to working out very well so far, very satisfied.

by:

so nice not having to pack the berings

by:

Christina helped me make sure that I ordered the correct hub. Ordered on Monday arrived on Thursday. Hubs came assembled and greased as advertised. Not knowing what grease was in the hub, I was concerned that there might not be enough grease to finish the job, like coating the axle or that finishing touch on the outer bearing. No worries, there was plenty of grease, more than I would have normally used. I'm not a grease expert but it seemed to be good stuff, very sticky and not overly stiff. I noticed that the couple of places that I could see a bearing, that the bearing had been pressure packed with streams of grease between the rollers. The hubs came in heavy, individual, corrigated boxes, and in a heavy plastic bag, perhaps explaning why they were clean and not banged up when I got them. Each end of the hub had a plastic plug in it to keep it clean. You'll need your axle washer, nut and retainer. Good on ya' Etrailer.

by:

easy peasy

by:

This was a perfect fit replacement assembly, pre-greased and everything ready to go. It made the repair an easy process.

Great alternative to putting OE Dexter brakes on. Saved us over $1000 on each of our trailers that needed brakes replaced!

  • Replacement Recommendation for Dexter Axle 8-201 Hub Assembly on Older Horse Trailer
We've got you covered! To replace your wheel bolts you need the Dexter Wheel Bolt # 7-262 which is a 1/2" diameter and 2-11/16" long. Since your hub and drum assembly looks to be pretty worn though I recommend just replacing the whole thing so you have completely new bearings and a seal as well. To replace the whole drum assembly you'll need part # 8-201-5UC3-EZ. The bearings that come with this kit match your application (I checked with my contact at Dexter Axle) but you will want to...

In order to use your 5 on 5" wheels you would need to get an adapter, which can usually be found via an off-road or auto parts retailer. These hubs are pre-greased too which means a less messy install. To wire up the brakes you'll want to use 10 gauge wire which we sell by the foot as part number # 10-1-1.

  • Which Electric Trailer Brakes Fit a 2017 Heartland Torque T285?
From all of the information I can find on your 2017 Heartland Torque T285 it should have left the factory with tandem 6,000lbs axles though I recommend crawling under it and checking the axle tag on the center of the axles to confirm this as trailer manufacturers like to change parts randomly. The Dexter # 23-105-106 you were looking at would be the correct replacement for your 6,000lb axles.
