Advent Air Accessories and Parts - ACMSCKIT

  • RV Air Conditioners
  • Start Capacitor
  • Advent Air

If your generator or shore power needs a little extra help to start your RV AC unit, this start capacitor will give it the power boost it needs. Relay switch turns the capacitor off once power has been supplied.

Features:

  • Start capacitor jumpstarts the AC (sold separately) when a campsite or generator doesn't provide enough power
    • Stores energy that will later be used for the next startup
  • Relay switch turns starts capacitor off once sufficient power has been supplied
  • Easy, bolt-on installation with the included hardware

Specs:

  • Overall dimensions: dimensions: 2-1/8" long x 3-5/8" deep x 6-5/16" tall
  • 1-Year warranty

How the Start Capacitor Works

If your campsite or generator isn't able to draw the power you need, then you may have difficulty starting your AC unit. The included start capacitor, however, can eliminate this problem. The capacitor stores energy that will later be used to jumpstart the AC. Once the sufficient amount of power has been supplied to the AC, the compressor will start to run, and the internal relay switch will turn the start capacitor off. At the same time, the compressor will send "back voltage" to the relay switch and capacitor in order to energize them for the next startup.

Simple Installation

To install, bolt it to the fan motor support with the included hardware and then route the wires to the run capacitor.

my order left etrailer within an hour of being placed. it arrived freight free 3 days later via ups. the ac was packaged very well and arrived without any visible damage. it is compatible with original thermostat and ceiling control box from a 2003 dometic 15000 btu duo therm . had to make a minor adjustment to the partition between the air chambers.the original ceiling plate was reusable as well.

Easy install, Easy instructions!!!

Great no Problems!!

by:

Start Capacitor works as it should.

by:

It only makes sense to install this extra capacitor to your RV air conditioner. This unit arrived with easy to follow printed instructions and the video instructions were a great help. Installation only took a few minutes.
***One tip I would offer when attaching the capacitor to the blower - screw in the attachement screws first without the capacitor. The screws are a tight fit intially and this step will allow them to go in much easier when you are attaching the capacitor body.

As always etrailer has the right products at the right price with excellent customer service.

Still working strong. Helps start AC with our generator.

by:

Very fast delivery time. Excellent packaging to help prevent damage during shipment. Haven't installed parts yet but everything looks good.

by:

Our AC starts good on 20 amp circuit using this start capacitor

by:

Installation went well and the instructions was easy to read and understand.I had the old unit out ,cleansed the roof and installed the new unit by myself in half a day and finished up wiring inside in a short time .Everything worked as explained,Thanks so much for your input and help with picking the right replacement ac unit

by:

Very easy to install. The included instructions were very helpful.

by:

Exactly as advertised, installed myself. If you aren't doing business with etrailer, you get what you deserve.

by:

The item was delivered on time and very very easy to install I had it done and I would say less than 5 minutes between removing the cover routing the wires over to the capacitor and making the connection everything that was needed was included would recommend buying. I'm using a 3500 run time generator at my camper to operate a 15,000 BTU air conditioner and I wanted every Edge to help the compressor start without bogging down the generator I haven't done the actual run yet but I'm sure it will be okay and do as it was meant to do I've noticed Improvement with the startup of the air conditioner even under normal conditions plugged into Shoreline.

by:

This is a must have for using the advent air 15kBTU with a generator. Great product, very easy installation, very easy wiring.

by:

One of those things. You can't really tell if it's working. Was a quick and easy install though. Instructions were quite clear.

by:

Installed this start capacitor on my new Advent RV air conditioner that replaced an old Carrier Air V unit that I had installed a soft start on. This start capacitor was only $19 dollars compared to $300 for the Soft start.

I am writing this due to the all the emails etrailer sends to me to remember to review the item… This review is more for etrailer than the product as I haven’t been able to install the item yet. I ordered this because the website said it would be delivered on July 14th, which would have been perfect timing for our trip. I was planning on installing it that afternoon, so we could take off that evening. However, it didn’t ship until the 14th, so I wasn’t able to install it before we left. The AC compressor struggled to start and even tripped the breaker a few times. Luckily, we were in camp when it happened, and not away so I could reset the breaker.

I know it might not be couth to write a review without actually using the item, but I also paid for a service. A service which etrailer fell short.

by:

Very friendly support. Helped with picking right unit for our needs. Quick delivery and arrived undamaged.

by:

Great unit, no problems since new

Great service

by:

great service.was able to answer all questions and was delivered on time.

by:

I don't notice a difference in the performance at start up. Maybe I didn't need this part afterall. It comes on initially but it wont turn back on after i turn the unit off. It didn't come with the mounting screws so I got some from the hardware store. The videos online are wa
Hy I gave it 4 stars and I trust it will serve me well in the future. Don't know we will see.

  • Availability of Advent 13,500 Btu Air Conditioner with Air Distribution Box # ACRG15
There isn't a full Advent Air Kit available that includes the Air Distribution Box # ACRG15 in place of the standard model, however you could piece together your own kit using the individual components. To match the contents of the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner Kit # ACM135CH you were looking at (except for the Air Distribution Box) you would just need part # ACM135 for the 13,500 Btu AC itself, # ACMHD for the Heat Strip, # ACMSCKIT for the Start Capacitor, and # ACRG15 for the upgraded...

  • Recommended RV Air Conditioner for Pre-Wired Pioneer Spirit Trailer
The Advent Air RV Air Conditioner part # ADV64FR will work great with a ducted trailer and it is a complete package meaning it comes with everything you need to get setup. If the trailer is pre-wired that is going to cut down install time and difficulty dramatically. This kit comes with the overhead unit, distribution box, and wall mounted thermostat. Advent is a very popular aftermarket replacement and they are all backed by a two year warranty. It has one of the highest cooling capacities...

  • How Many Amps Does Advent Air RV Air Conditioner ACM150 Use?
I am not quite sure where you're seeing 30 amps for the Advent Air # ACM150, but it has a total amp draw of 15 amps when running, with 12.4 amps being the compressor and the remaining 2.6 amps being the fan motor. This will be just fine at replacing your Duo Therm 13.5k BTU, and the wiring will be more than adequate for this power. The only time the amps will be really different is with startup. It's not a bad idea to install a start capacitor like # ACMSCKIT if you're going to be powering...

  • Does the Advent 13,500 Btu RV Air Conditioner Come With a Start Capacitor
The Advent Air RV Air Conditioner part # ACM135 does not come with any sort of integrated start capacitor but this can be added using the Start Capacitor for Advent Air RV Air Conditioners part # ACMSCKIT. The start capacitor will bring down the amps required to start the unit which will help ease the strain on your generator as well as when you have it hooked up to shore power. I highly recommend adding one as it is a very cost effective, worthy investment.

You can replace your Dometic air conditioner on your 2015 Forest River Wildwood Heritage Glen 286RLT 5th wheel with the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner # ACM150B. This will allow you to use your Dometic thermostat. I recommend adding the Start Capacitor # ACMSCKIT to reduce the draw load on your electrical system when starting the AC.

  • Is There A Heat Strip Available For An Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System
Yes, you're looking for the Advent Air Heat Strip # ACMHD to go along with your # ACM150. This system requires a 14-1/4" long x 14-1/4" wide roof opening, which is pretty typical for all RV air conditioner systems. I highly recommend getting the start capacitor # ACMSCKIT as well to cut down on the power surge every time your unit starts up.

  • Will A 2,500 Watt Champion Generator Be Enough To Power An Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System
The start capacitor # ACMSCKIT included with the Advent Air # ACM135C will drop the starting wattage down to approximately 1,800 watts with a 1,450 running wattage so your Champion generator # CH34FR with 2,500w surge rating and 1,850w running wattage will be enough to handle the demand. If you plan on powering more items in your trailer then you can use the Parallel Kit # CH74FR and another # CH34FR to double your available wattage.

  • Air Conditioner Recommendation For 24 Foot x 8 Foot Enclosed Trailer
For a 24' x 8' enclosed trailer, you're looking at about 200 square feet, and for that size, I recommend a 13,500 Btu air conditioner, which will more than suffice for that space. I also highly recommend a start capacitor to go with the AC in order to ensure your unit always has enough power to start up whenever you need. With that in mind, there are two really good options for you, both from Advent. One has a thermostat and controls directly on the air distribution box, and the other...

The etrailer 3,200-Watt Portable Inverter Generator - 2,900 Running Watts - Gas - Remote Start # 333-0003 is a really nice option for your off-grid camping. This generator has a surge power output of 3,200 watts. I don't know what your Dometic unit pulls at startup however that is the biggest issue when off-grid camping because that start pull far more power than it takes to simply run the unit after start and many generators cannot handle the initial draw. For instance the Atwood...

  • Recommended Replacement For A 13.5K GE RV AC Unit
We recommend the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner # ACM135 to replace the GE 13.5K RV AC unit. The advent unit has the same 13.5K BTU rating. You will also need a new distribution box and/or thermostat. You can use # ACDB for manual control or the # ACRG15 which comes with a wall mounted thermostat. Advent sells their start capacitor # ACMSCKIT separately, and we do recommend picking up one of those as well. You also have the option of adding a heat strip # ACMHD.
