Video Transcript for Curt 1-7/8 Inch Stainless Steel Hitch Ball Review

What's up, everybody out of here with Etrailer today, we're gonna be taking a look at the CURT Trailer Ball. When it comes to trailer balls, there's a couple of things we need to make sure of, to make sure it's gonna work. One, this is an 1-7/8 size, so make sure to check your coupler, make sure that it is the right size, and also keep in mind the weight that you're working with. It's gonna have a 2000 pound weight limit, and with that, that's just gonna make sure that the ball's in the right size, and it's gonna be able to handle some of the weight that you have on your trailer. And then another thing that really matters is the ball mount. So we are gonna have to pick one out, and one thing we need to make sure of is of course, we wanna pair it up with the weight rating of the ball to make sure that the ball mount is not gonna be limiting us at all, and also with the plate that amounts to, it needs to be in between 3-7/8 inch to 7-7/8 inch thick, anything more than that it's not gonna work, anything less isn't gonna work either.

The shank is about two and eight inches long, and the diameter is three quarters of an inch. With the diameter, that's just gonna be the hole on your ball mount, and we wanna make sure that that is the correct size, anything bigger than that there's gonna be a lot of play and anything smaller than that, it's just not gonna fit. With this, we really wanna piece this together kind of carefully just, to make sure everything's gonna be safe on the road. So once you figure out capacities, once you figure out the right size, and then of course just make sure that the ball mount works with it, you're pretty much ready to go. It's made of stainless steel, so it is gonna resist against that rust and corrosion pretty well.

If you we're to upgrade, there are some that are machined out of one piece of metal. So those are gonna be coated as well, so that is gonna be an upgraded version of this, but when it comes to trailer balls, it just gets the job done. Pretty much, that's all there really is to know about the CURT 1-7/8 trailer ball..

I'm so very glad I found etrailer, I purchased this hitch and a ball mount and was easily able to have it installed onto the car without the need to trim my vehicle's heat-shield. It looks as great as it is functional and adds a good bit of versatility to the vehicle as well as a nice cosmetic look when not in use. The hitch tucks nicely under the vehicle and supports weight well. I drive a Fiesta ST with already low clearance on the suspension, but am still able to tow a small trailer which is really nice to be able to do with a smaller vehicle. Excellent product and e-trailer was great to work with an answered any questions I had!

by:

Both the wiring harness and hitch receiver were very easy to put on. The hardest part was separating the wiring clips from the rear lights to put the new adapter in. You have to be kind of physical with it to get it apart. Then the new ones just snapped right in. 20 minute job. The hitch receiver went right on in the pre-drilled/threaded holes in the chassis. This was on a 2006 Toyota Corolla S.

I got a Curt trailer hitch for my 2013 Civic Si. The product was delivered really fast and with everything as promised. The guys from etrailer included detailed step-by-step instructions for installation for my vehicle. I was able to install it by myself with one more person helping out. Very happy with my purchase.

by:

A good product! This is the second hitch I have installed using etrailer and it went as well as the first. Not being a super skilled Tech it took longer than expected, but for me it was a project that needed to be done, and I enjoy a good project when it comes together, no matter if it took a little longer due to an average person's tool inventory and simple jack stands and floor jacks. The instruction videos are the best I have seen as of yet. If you enjoy working with your hands, I recommend etrailer products!

by:

I keep this ball in the trunk of my car next to the spare tire when not in use. It has not corroded at all and looks brand new after 1 year. Mounting the ball is a cinch and only requires an adjustable wrench. No problems with the product so far.

by:

As expected, delivery was quick

by:

Fits my Polaris perfectly and allow a level pull of my weed sprayer.

by:

I highly recommend etrailer hitch and wiring harness They were both easy to install. The Prius pull the motorcycle camping trailer very well. You would not even know it was hooked to the car

by:

The hitch ball is a very solid product as well, but I think I ordered the wrong size for the trailer that I will be getting this Sunday. The trailer I will get has a 2" ball hitch.

by:

We ordered Class II drawbar and two hitch balls. We appreciated the completeness of the online website and the ease for placing the order. We are very satisfied with the high quality of the products and speed of receiving our order.

by:

While visiting family in Brooklyn, N.Y. my trailer hitch was stolen. What can you expect it was Crookland, oops I mean Brooklyn. This was an exact replacement. Fast service, nothing bad to say all is good except my feelings for Brooklyn.

by:

Over priced. Found for $14 at local RV parts store. Good otherwise. It's a big piece of metal, what could go wrong. Unless you know what size you'll need get the 3500lb ball, more likely to be what you need.

by:

Would have been nice to receive the tracking number sooner and the 3 day shipping actually took 5 days

by:

Super helpful ordering my first trailer hitch you made it easy thank you so much!

by:

Here in Florida, we quickly learn the value of stainless hardware. This hitch ball should last until the end of time.

by:

Looks like a high quality ball. Fit perfectly with the hitch from etrailer.

by:

Nice looking ball. Should it the bill for my pull behind motorcycle trailer.

by:

Great product, but stainless washer and nut would have been nice.

by:

Fit like a glove. I bought a 6" extension for my standard ratchet set and had it on in 30 minutes. Towed my john boat the next day.

by:

Arrived in great condition!
Shipped
faster then expected!
Great customer communication!
This item and eTrailer will get my repeat business!

by:

The instructions worked well!

by:

Great product, good fit. Stainless is the only way to go.

Great! All componenents were installed in a 2015 Chevy Spark. Pulled a 4×8 U-haul trailer from Colorado Springs to South Florida and it managed without a problem.

by:

Received just what I ordered in a few days and everything is working fine. Great service!

by:

The only way that this install could have been any easier would be if somebody else did it for me. Very easy job even if you are not technical.

  • Trailer Hitch Fit for 2014 Subaru Impreza 5-Door Hatchback
As long as your 2014 Subaru Impreza isn't a WRX or WRX STi model (and it sounds like it isn't), the Curt # C11286 is the correct fit. If you DO have the WRX or WRX STi, you'd then need the # C11120. If you'll be doing some light duty towing, you'll also need the # 118573 for the non-WRX models or # 119250KIT for the WRX and WRX STi. You'll also need the # C45521 ball mount, the # PC2 hitch pin and for a trailer ball, part # A-80 for a 1-7/8 ball or # A-82 for a 2 inch ball.

  • Ball Mount to Use with Curt Hitch that Fits 2008 Subaru Impreza
With Class I hitches like the Curt # C11120 you mentioned that fits your 2008 Subaru Impreza wagon you have to go with the required ball mount by the manufacturer which in this case would be the part # C45521. Then for a hitch ball you'd wan the part # A-82 for a 2 inch ball or part # A-80 for a 1-7/8 inch ball.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2017 Honda Civic LX
As long as your 2017 Honda Civic LX doesn't have the center exhaust, there is a trailer hitch available for your vehicle. If you've got the Coupe or Hatchback models I recommend using the Curt # C11463 or if you've got a Sedan I recommend the Curt # C11604, since Curt hitches tend to have a more durable powder coating that ultimately helps prolong the life of your hitch and fend off rust/corrosion. Both of these hitches offer a Class I, 1-1/4" receiver to use for towing or carrying hitch...

  • Trailer Hitch for 1993 Volvo 240 Wagon
According to Curt, the # C12207 Class II hitch fits all models of the 1993 Volvo 240, including the wagon. If you'll be towing with the hitch, you'll need a trailer wiring harness # 119178KIT, a ball mount # C45521, and a # A-80 for a 1-7/8 inch trailer ball or # A-82 for a 2 inch ball.

  • Picking Out Trailer Hitch Size and Wiring for 2016 Honda Civic Coupe
For your 2016 Honda Civic coupe there are only Class I 1-1/4 inch hitches available like the Curt # C11463 which would be a great solution. This hitch will limit you to 200lbs tongue weight and 2000lbs trailer weight, though you want to check the owner's manual for your vehicle and go by the lowest ratings between the hitch and vehicle. Once you know that info you can decide what size/weight trailer will fit the bill for your needs. To complete your towing setup you'll also need a wiring...

  • Curt Wiring Harness for 2016 Toyota Camry Hybrid
According to Curt the wiring harness # C55567 does fit your hybrid model of the 2016 Toyota Camry. I've linked a video of the install on a 2012 Camry which is a similar process. The install details are also linked. If you need a trailer hitch as well part # C12107 is the correct fit for your Camry and the recommended ball mount is part # C45017. The ball mount fits hitch balls with a 3/4 inch shank so part # A-82 is the correct 2 inch ball and part # is the correct 1-7/8 inch. You...

For your 2003 Mercedes E320 sedan the hitch you want is actually the part # C11701 as the hitch for the wagon models is different. The trailer wiring kit part # 119250KIT is still the best kit to use though. For a ball mount you'd need the part # C45521 and for hitch balls you'd need # A-82 for a 2 inch hitch ball or part # A-80 for 1-7/8 inch.

If you plan on doing any towing you will also need wiring, # C56220 for models with LED taillights and # C56222 for models without. The Curt Class I hitch part # C11424 that you referenced does fit your 2018 Hyundai Elantra Sedan and has a towing capacity of 2,000 lbs trailer weight. I looked up the towing capacity of your vehicle and it appears to have a 750 lb trailer towing weight capacity so you'd be limited to that as your overall towing capacity.
