Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2004 Mercedes-Benz E320 Wagon

Question:

Hi, I have a 2004 E320 wagon. I was wondering why the 11701 does not fit my vehicle. Are there any hitches that have more tow capacity that fit my vehicle. The extra 500lb and 50lb tounge weight would make a pretty significant difference. Thanks.

The Curt hitch # C11701 is a fit for the following models only based on the frame hole locations and vehicle capacity:

2003 - 2009 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Sedan - excluding Sport Package
2006 - 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Wagon - E350 and E55 AMG
2007 - 2009 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Wagon - E350 and E63 AMG
2005 - 2005 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Wagon - E55 AMG

For your 2004 Mercedes-Benz E320 Wagon, the Curt # C11820 is the only confirmed fit. It has a capacity of 200 lbs tongue weight and 2,000 lbs towing as you stated. This rating is typical of the Class I Hitches and there is not a higher capacity hitch available for your vehicle.

It sounds like you will be towing, so I recommend the ball mount # C45521 and pin and clip # F-4. Then you will either want hitch ball # A-80 for 1-7/8 inch diameter or # A-82 for 2 inch diameter.

For your trailer wiring, I recommend the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit # 119250KIT which is the only confirmed fit for your vehicle. I've attached a video to assist.

I have a 2004 e320 wagon. I’m can’t see why the C11701 would not work for my vehicle. The C11820 is a straight bar, looks like it would be more visible, true?

The Curt # C11820 is the only hitch we have available that's confirmed to fit your e320 Wagon. The straight crosstube actually won't be visible at all since the 2" receiver drops down from it - the crosstube will be hidden behind the rear bumper.
