Need them quick and they made it happen a day sooner than expected … Thank you

by:

Just what we wanted!!!

by:

Did not fit axle spindle so I'll be returning the 2 nuts. Had to get correct size locally so I could finish assembly.

by:

Worked very well. On a difficulty scale of 1-10, with 10 being the hardest, this was a 3.

by:

After being in storage, in a field, for more than 2 years, Water had contaminated the original hub, pitting the bearings and races and they had not been serviced since, at least 1999. I polished up the EZ lube spindles, flushed out the old grease and I was ready. Everything fit perfectly. It was aa perfect match. Used new Nuts and Washers. re-installed the Wheels and Tires, Torqued to 90-10lb. The old 6 x 4 Wells Cargo trailer is once again Ready for the coming rendezvous season.

by:

Thanks for getting it shipped so quickly - well done!

The products appear to be ok. I would give the products 4 out of 5 stars. The 2 star rating is because of the poor shipping.

I ordered 2 leaf springs, 2 spindle nuts and 3 spindle washers. The first box showed up quickly (3 days) but it only contained 1 leaf spring. I called etrailer and they shipped a second leaf spring. After 5 days the package was at my local UPS distribution center but the tracking info said the package had been damaged and ups was contacting the shipper. I found out from ups that the spring had come out of the box, and they did not know who to deliver the spring to. I called etrailer again to discuss the damaged package but etrailer would not ship another spring until the damaged box/loose spring mystery was solved. Another week passed. I finally got the second leaf spring today, but it took about 3 weeks from the initial order date.

Brake Drum/Hub unit and associated parts arrived quickly and in great shape! Waiting for warmer weather to install. Have used e-trailer parts before to rebuild all brakes, hubs and bearings on camping trailer last summer but over-torqued one bearing set and had an outer bearing failure - almost lost the wheel! This unit will replace that damaged hub which was gouged by riding on the washer and spindle nut causing grease cap not to seal and leak grease. These parts are first class and fit and install perfectly!

First off I purchased 1" castle nuts, tang type spindle washers and 2 wheel hubs for a 3500 lb tandem trailer. I wish I had pictures during the assembly but I don't, however these parts all assembled perfectly. The hubs were pre-greased, so all I did was use brake cleaner on the wheel spindles to clean up, the hubs slid on with no problem, the tang washers fit perfectly and the castle nut threaded on with ease, the hub included new lug nuts which made the whole repair a breeze! Very pleased with the purchase and ease of assembly, I was going to piece out the bearings and races but for the price of a complete hub it made more sense to buy it already greased and assembled. E trailers videos and instructions are great to consider before attempting to install the parts.

by:

The part is what I ordered. But what is almost as important is the inside sales person who helped me with my order. MarthaO was so much better than average and an example for every other inside sales person to emulate. Thank you Martha!

6 wks. ago I started on a refurbishing project off a 1988 Holsclaw boat trailer. I stripped all the paint off, ground and sanded the rust, primed and painted everything, replaced ALL the fasteners with stainless stell and some galvanized. I ordered several things from etrailer.com . Everything I ordered was to exact specifications and the shipping was on-time, everytime. I ordered several bearing items to repack the hubs, this coupler and nifty lifting handle, transom tie down brackets, spare tire carrier and 3 new 570x80 tires mounted on galvanized rims and the company installed stems, free of charge! I love the way this project came out and I've thoroughly enjoyed shopping @ etrailer.com! Thank you!

Nice upgrade of the axle on my [online] trailer. I had no confidence towing my home made teardrop camper until I installed this axle. The package was damaged in shipping and eTrailer quickly replaced the missing parts.

  • Replacement Hub for Adams Trailer with Dexter EZ Lube Axles with Bearings L44649
We have just the hub you are looking for with the part # AKIHUB-545-2-EZ-2K. This matches the bearing and seal info you listed, the bolt pattern, has an ez-lube cap for access to the grease fitting, and comes pre-greased so it's ready to install. You will need new castle nut part # 165686, and then for standard cotter pin # 165649, for a tang washer part # 5-101, and for a D washer part # 5-23.

  • Where Does Flat Washer Go
I was unable to find an order number so I'm not certain exactly what you are referring to, but in general a flat washer such as Washer For 1" Spindle # SW1000 will go between the outer bearing of your hub and the nut that holds it on, which essentially works to protect the bearing. These washers are used on spindles with a spindle nut such as Spindle Nut 1" # 165686 and Cotter Pin # 165649.

  • Does Trailer Idler Hub Assembly AKIHUB-545-2-EZ-1K Include Spindle Nut?
The Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # AKIHUB-545-2-EZ-1K you were looking at does not include a spindle nut, but does include new bearings # L44643, races, grease seal, grease cap, and lug nuts. Typically customers reuse there current spindle nut, but if yours is missing/lost or damaged you should be able to use 1" Spindle Nut # 165686 as that is the typical spindle nut used for an axle that uses the above hub. You can confirm this by measuring the diameter of the threaded portion of your spindle...

  • How to Choose the Correct Pre-Greased Replacement Hub for Snowbear Trailer
There are pre-greased hubs available in a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern. In order to find the correct replacement hub you can take apart your good hub assembly and look at the bearings themselves; wipe away the grease and you should be able to see the part number stamped directly on them. If your hub has inner and outer bearings # L44643 you'd need CE Smith Trailer Hub Assembly w/ Carrying Case for 2,500-lb Axles - 5 on 4-1/2 - Pre-Greased # CE13210. • Castle Nut Wont Thread All the Way on 2,000 lb EZ Lube Spindle with Tang and D Washer
Thank you for all the photos! My contact at Dexter Axle confirmed that on a 2,000 lb axle, the D-washer # 5-23 is not needed. It is only required on 3,500 lb axles and above. So, in your case it's perfectly safe to leave it off and this way allowing the castle nut # 165686 to fully thread on the spindle. When tightening the spindle nut it should be tightened to the point that you can feel resistance in the bearings, then backed off to the point where you can bend the tang properly which...

  • Replacement Axle Nut for 3500 lb Boat Trailer Axles
We have what you need! For EZ-Lube axles which are very common on boat trailers you want to use the Spindle Nut Kit for EZ Lube Axles part # RG05-100. This will have two nuts, washers and keepers. For the non EZ-Lube axles use the Trailer Spindle Nut 1" part # 165686 and the Cotter Pin part # 165649. these are individual so you will want two of each to have all you need. You can confirm these will fit on your axles by measuring your spindle and ensuring that your it has 1" threads on it.

  • Are There Shims for a Trailer Axle Castle Nut
I do have some advice for you but we don't carry any spindle shims for the castle nut. I've messed with many spindles and castle nuts, there are a lot of times it seems there is one notch that's too loose and one that's too tight. I recommend the slightly tighter setting if needed, you don't want any side to side play in the hub when tight. This can cause grooves to wear into the spindle over time and destroy the axle.

For a spindle nut to use with the hub # AKIHUB-545-2-LF-2K that you referenced the part # 165686 would be a great replacement. You'd also need a cotter pin if you didn't have one as well with # 165649.

The #42 Spindle # TRU57FR does come with a Standard Washer # SW1000, Cotter Pin # 165649, and Castle Nut # 165686 to secure the hub to the spindle. The D-Washer # 5-23 and Tang Washer # 5-101 were created to allow for a Grease Zerk # LC44XV to fit the end of the spindle and allow you to grease the hub bearings without removing the hub. There are some versions using a grease zerk and cotter pin but those are more likely to not allow grease to reach the bearings as it can come out the cotter...

  • How Tight Does the Castle Nut on a Trailer Spindle Need To Be
According to our installers you will tighten the trailer spindle nut until it stops by itself. In other words do not torque it down as hard as you can. It just has to be tight. A little play is to be expected. You do not want to torque it down too tight, because that makes the bearings too tight and then that generates heat and your bearings come apart. You might want to try tightening it a few times to get a feel for where it seems like the spindle nut naturally stops. Once it is fairly...

  • How to Determine the Correct Hub Cap Cover for a 5 Lug Wheel
I have not heard of a 5 on 4.3" hub cover, so I believe that there might be some incorrect measuring. Using the guide attached, I recommend re-measuring your wheel bolts. I believe you have 5 on 4-1/2" as that is the most common, however if you measure: -2 5/8", then you have a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern, -2 3/4", then you have a 5 on 4-3/4 bolt pattern, -3", then you have a 5 on 5 bolt pattern, Or - If you measured 3 1/4", then you have a 5 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern.

  • Torque Rating for Spindle Castle Nut
When installing the castle nut on the end of the spindle, there is no specific torque rating. The nut is ran down until there is no side to side play in the hub, and then backed off to the next notch in the castle nut so the tang washer or cotter pin can secure the nut. Over-tightening the castle nut can damage the bearings, races and spindle. If you click on the video link I provided, and fast forward to the 4:45 minute mark, you can see the procedure.
