Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Spindle Nut with the 1-1/2" by 12 fine thread inside diameter, and it's for the 9,000 to 10,000 pound general duty axles. Now this spindle nut here is used to secure your hub to your spindle. The size nut here is, like we said, fits the 9,000 to 10,000 pound general duty axles, and this is used with a tang washer. Now that tang washer we do sell separately on our website, goes by a part number of 5-71, and I just wanna pop up an insert to show you there's what that tang washer looks like and that is used with the nut here. Now we had mentioned the internal diameter on this measures 1-1/2", so that's the inner portion.
So you can see if I take a ruler and if we go on there, you see there's 1-1/2" measurement. It does have a fine thread here of 12 threads per inch, and the last measurement is gonna be the overall diameter from one side to the other. And you can see what the rule on that is right at 2-1/4". But that's gonna do it for the review on this Spindle Nut with the 1-1/2" by 12 fine thread inside diameter for the 9,000 to 10,000 pound general duty axles.

So the serial number is 3653139. I have attached the spec sheet that they sent me. The Dexter 10k axles should have a 1-1/2 inch threaded diameter the correct replacement nuts would be the # 6-96. This is not a spindle that we carry at this time, but I did find some of the measurements. I have attached a diagram showing the dimensions of a #99 spindle for you to check out. If you are looking for bearings and a grease seal, you can use part # 28580 for the inner bearing, # 25580 for the outer bearing, part # T51153 for the grease seal, and part # 6-96 for the spindle nut.

- Does 1-1/2" Spindle Nut Have a Torque SettingTrailer spindle nuts, like the 1-1/2" Spindle Nut # 6-96, don't have a specific torque setting. What you'll want to do is snug up the trailer nut and then back it off a little so your trailer hub has some some freedom of movement. If you have it torqued down too much it will make it harder for your hub to move and will cause it to overheat.

It is also most common for dual wheel trailers to use 9K or 10K axles. The 3" axle tube and 8 lug wheel also points to 9K or 10K.
