Are There Shims for a Trailer Axle Castle Nut

Question:

This seems to be the only place to ask a question. I have a 3500lb axle spindle castle nut that the slots are one to loose and the next slot to tight. Do you have a .010 shim so I can adjust the castle nut right? Or should I take the nut to a grinder? The loose slot is 1/8 tire movement. Thank you

I do have some advice for you but we don't carry any spindle shims for the castle nut. I've messed with many spindles and castle nuts, there are a lot of times it seems there is one notch that's too loose and one that's too tight. I recommend the slightly tighter setting if needed, you don't want any side to side play in the hub when tight. This can cause grooves to wear into the spindle over time and destroy the axle.
